The William Peace University Business Office is committed to providing responsible management of financial resources with accuracy and integrity. Primary areas of focus include budget management, financial reporting, accounts payable, purchasing, student accounts, payroll, cash management, endowment management and debt management. Summary of Position:

The Financial Analyst works closely with the Associate VP for Finance & Controller and CFO. The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing historical accounting data and other information to make projections which will aid management in short- and long-range financial planning. Coordinates action necessary to correct account balances and maintain proper accounting controls and procedures. Assists in year-end audits and in ensuring the accuracy of accounting data. Analyzes financial statements and prepares and analyzes financial reports to represent current and projected financial status. Projects future trends and prepares long-range operational forecasts and cash flow analysis. May assist in preparing, developing, and monitoring budgets. May perform indirect cost analysis. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Performs broad-impact financial analysis, reporting, and systems development for the University

  • Oversees the design, documentation, and implementation of various integrated systems and applications for periodic and ad hoc financial reporting, utilizing complex electronic financial information from WPU systems and databases.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information and develops integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations.

  • Works with CFO and Controller to create long-term and short-term operating plans; Establishes associated operating and capital budgets

  • Assists in preparing, developing, and monitoring budgets; Contributes to the development of the University's annual budget and monitoring the budget on a routine basis. Provides budget analyses and reporting.

  • Assists with financial statement preparation.

  • Anticipates favorable and unfavorable financial results or variances; conducts research and prepares explanations and recommendations for changes or improvements

  • Compares relevant data, such as YTD results versus budget or current year versus previous year, to identify issues or trends as soon as possible

  • Coordinates, compiles, and analyzes annual financial statements and its component units, utilizing complex spreadsheet and database applications.

  • Collaborates with CFO and Controller to ensure consistent reporting and adherence to federal and state financial reporting regulations and guidelines, and conformity with University fiscal policies and procedures.

  • Analyzes, designs, documents, and implements internal financial reporting systems and procedures.

  • Provides leadership, administrative support, and operational coordination to various technical, professional, and/or administrative personnel engaged in specified project activities, as appropriate to the position.

  • Cost analysis for various programs and majors to assess ROI.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Windows XP, Word, Access, Excel; working knowledge of google suite.

  • Knowledge of a range of automated financial systems and applications software.

  • Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, and present complex annual financial reports, statements, and/or projections.

  • Knowledge of Federal and State financial regulations.

  • Knowledge of the principles, processes, and standards for integrated financial analysis and reporting as related to a public institution.

  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related field and 3-5 years of financial analysis or accounting experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related field and 5 or more years of demonstrated successful financial analysis or accounting experience.
