The Finance and Accounting organization is a mission and results driven team that operates with a strong sense of collaboration to support the business, while utilizing our technical expertise, as we manage processes to record, reconcile, and report all financial activity of the enterprise. We bring financial context into the picture when partnering with the lines of business, senior and executive management, and our board of directors.

The Opportunity

The Financial Analyst role will have primary responsibility for accounting and finance area support within the Cowpens paper manufacturing environment. This position provides key business analysis for various financial, accounting and administrative activities in support of both mill and corporate internal customers. Duties will include mill analytics, forecasting, budgeting, month-end closing reporting as well as productivity and cost improvement projects. The individual in this role must exhibit effective communication skills along with the ability to be a self-starter and work independently.

How you will impact WestRock

  • Assist with the monthly financial closing activities and other accounting activities as needed.

  • Involved with monthly cost and variance analysis activity for the mill and liaison areas.

  • Complete assigned mill and corporate financial reporting needs.

  • Support the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process as needed.

  • Provide support for monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes.

  • Use Hyperion and JDE for analytics and other financial reporting

  • Perform ad hoc analysis, reporting and project support as needed.

  • Serve as financial liaison for operations at the mill providing analytical and data/information support for corporate and mill needs.

What you need to succeed

  • BA or BS with a major in accounting, finance, or business admin administration

  • A minimum of 2+ years of finance experience.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing and corporate reporting requirements

  • Exposure to various GL and reporting environments.

  • Experienced with cost and financial analysis and reconciliation processes

  • Initiative-taker with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently and effectively manage multiple competing priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with desire and ability to work in a team/collaborative environment and build rapport across functional teams.

  • Experience in JD Edwards, SAP and Hyperion a plus.

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Teams. PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office products.

  • Good organizational, problem solving and communication skills.

  • Problem-solving, organizational and follow through skills, with diligence and passion for improvement.

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently, balancing routine responsibilities with ad hoc requests.

  • Experience in Power BI, Elixir, and Workforce will be helpful
