Purpose

This position supports the Steve Hicks School of Social Work Chief Business Officer. The Financial Analyst is a key member of the Business Affairs team, responsible for processing financial transactions, preparing reports, and relieving the CBO with other financial activities.

Responsibilities

Procurement and Payment

  • Manage all aspects of procurement and accounts payable processed through the Dean's Administrative Office.

  • Complete purchase orders, UT Market orders, travel and entertainment payments, reimbursements, and deposits.

  • Research problem invoices and other payment issues. Audit and correct transactions when necessary.

  • Ensure all invoices are properly handled and retained per retention schedule. Manage School ProCard.

  • Administer the Dean's Office Amazon Prime account.

  • Ensure items that require the Chief Business Officer's approval are routed accordingly.

Contract Management

  • Prepare, review, and route contracts to Business Contracts Office for processing.

  • Prepare and submit payments for contract agreements.

Financial Management

  • Reconcile school accounts, including monthly posting and closing of accounts.

  • Prepare financial documents for imaging and manage accounting files.

  • Work with School Chief Business Officer as needed with other accounting related duties such developing and preparing financial reports and projections using existing tools such as Excel, Define, and VIP.

  • Process transfers as necessary under the guidance of the CBO, process interdepartmental transfer of funds, assist in implementation of school or campus-wide systems.

  • Identify opportunities for process of improvement needs and initiate actions in collaboration with the Chief Business Officer.

Serve as back-up to Chief Business Officer and members of the Business Affairs team.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.

  • Five years of relevant experience in university accounting, business management, or other closely related field.

  • Demonstrated resiliency working in a dynamic work environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize job tasks in dynamic circumstances without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines while working independently and/or as a team member.

  • Demonstrated ability of excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Professional demeanor and regular, punctual attendance.

  • Solid knowledge of office productivity tools, such as Mac OSX and Microsoft Office.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • More than required years of experience.

  • Previous experience sharing responsibilities and being a celebrated team member.

  • Previous experience in higher education.

  • Experience working with faculty and graduate students.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems.

Salary Range

$52,000 (+ depending on qualifications)

Working Conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation; prolonged screen time.

  • Use of manual dexterity.

  • Typical office environment.

Work Shift

  • Position is expected to report on campus in Austin, TX.

  • Possible flexible work arrangements, including working from home on a part-time basis, may be negotiated with the supervisor but are subject to future review should the needs of the workplace change.

  • Some evening and weekend work may be required during special events.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
