Job Summary

The Teradata Customer Support and Services Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for managing new orders for Transaction Services. This includes working with Sales and Presales, delivery teams and others in Finance and Accounting to determine billable status, revenue amount, and timing of revenue recognition. The individual will set the annual plan (currently $25M for the Americas), track monthly progress, and work to deliver an accurate forecast.

Key Responsibilities

Provides updates to Customer Support and Services leadership on project backlog aging and conversion status. Collects and presents project status for use in business review, planning, reporting and monthly outlook processes. Prepares and analyzes financial outlooks and operating results. Responsible for management of related balance sheet accounts and expenses.

Develop Monthly Outlook

  • Work closely with operating management

  • Review outlook against results for validation of achievability

  • Review risk in outlook and determine how to reduce risk

  • Develop contingency plans as needed

  • Provide Senior management with timely, relevant and actionable financial and operational reporting and forecasting

  • Provide ongoing intra-month updates

Strategic Long Range Plan (SLRP)

  • Review historical results to determine future trends

  • Operationalize long range plan

Annual Plan

  • Develop plan for Transaction Services

  • Determine calendarization and allocation methodologies

  • Perform gap analysis and consolidation

  • Apply Accounting changes

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related business discipline required

  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in Finance or Finance-related specialties, cross functional projects

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles

  • Knowledge of Business Objects, Hyperion, Oracle, other Financial Management tools

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, transforming organization is a must

DESCRIPTION The Division's Financial Services Analyst will manage central purchasing for a large, high-volume academic division by serving approximately 90 faculty (almost 70 research laboratories) in support of the administration of sponsored projects, divisional teaching labs, recharge facilities, and divisional administrative staff. Independently responsible for coordinating and communicating purchasing functions including Equipment Management with UCSD Central Procurement Office. Uses professional financial services concepts. Applies organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues. Works on financial services problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Responsible for the full scope of proposal preparation and post-award management for a group of investigators (approximately $14 million in annual expenditures), including: timely and accurate reporting of financial data to faculty and campus officials and compliance with very diverse agency and University regulations. Provide assistance to Department Fund Managers in the Post Award Administration area. Liaison with various vendors, lab managers, and central purchasing office to clarify and resolve unusual terms. Serve as Department Security Administrator (DSA). Responsible for maintaining Division Asset, Equipment Inventory Control. Work on special projects including historical data compilation and data organization. Serve as Department Express Card Administrator. Prepare documents, reports, and data using spreadsheet programs. Monitor and organize documents and various statistical reports for various procurement transactions. Assist faculty with their relocation and purchasing and relocation needs upon arriving to UCSD and departing from UCSD. Responsible for setting up new employees in various UCSD systems and ensuring access is revoked upon separation from the Department. * Occasional overtime may be required depending on operational needs. QUALIFICATIONS * A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training. * Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures. Knowledge of OMB circulars such as Uniform Guidance, A-21, A110 and principles of cost accounting standards, including allowability, allocability, and reasonableness, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines. * Proven knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems. Experience with online entry of purchase requests, financial journals, transfers of funds, invoices, purchase orders, payment authorizations, etc. * Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software. Experience using standard office software packages, and intermediate skills in MS Word, and EXCEL, or similar software packages, with ability to increase skills as need to meet work demands. * Proven ability to independently perform a variety of accurate financial calculations using basic arithmetic functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc. * Ability to interpret PPM guidelines, UC and Divisional practices and funding agency regulations governing allowable costs for sponsored projects. * Experience with standard filing systems (paper and digital content) with the ability to maintain and cross reference complex filing systems for rapid/easy retrieval by self or others. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, recommend solutions, determine and implement procedures to accomplish effective resolution, and evaluate results or progress. * Excellent ability to compose documents and communicate verbally in English using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, with students, staff, and academic employees with diverse personalities. * Strict attention to detail and ability to accurately complete documents in a timely manner and/or within stated deadlines.
