This position coordinates the administration of Public Act 416 of 1978, which is a state funded $15 million Secondary Road Patrol (SRP) and Accident Prevention Program. The position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day review and maintenance of SRP Program financial records, funding allocations, monitoring of revenues and expenditures. reviewing SRP Program applications, and analysis of financial transactions, including analysis of SIGMA reports for accuracy of accounting transactions in SRP Program appropriations and funds. This position coordinates the administration of revenues and expenditures and analysis of financial transactions for the Michigan Truck Safety Commission programs.

This position is also responsible for conducting inhouse and on-site full-scope program/financial officer activity monitoring and provides training on the SRP Program to county sheriff offices state-wide.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.

Education for Financial Analyst 9-P11

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 12 semester (18 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: accounting, finance, or economics.

Experience for Financial Analyst 9-P11

Financial Analyst 10

One year of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst 9, Accountant 9, or Auditor 9.

Financial Analyst P11

Two years of professional experience providing a systematic review, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of budgets, mortgages, loans, or other financial data, equivalent to a Financial Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Financial Analyst 10, Accountant 10, or Auditor 10.

Education and Experience for Financial Analyst (Departmental Trainee) 9 (FOR CLASSIFIED STATE EMPLOYEES ONLY)

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and two years of experience as an Accounting Technician E9 and/or 10, Account Examiner E10 and/or 11, Account Examiner Supervisor 12, or Office Supervisor 9-10 (with the bookkeeping subclass code); or, one year of experience as an Account Examiner Supervisor 13, or Office Supervisor 11-12 (with the bookkeeping subclass code).

Educational Substitution

College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
