The Topps Company is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its corporate headquarters finance team located in Manhattan. This high profile group directly supports the company's Executive Management team by leading the company's annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, management reporting, and strategic planning activities. Topps is a leading creator and marketer of sports and related cards, entertainment products, and distinctive confectionery. The Topps Company, Inc. was founded in 1938 as Topps Chewing Gum, and in its early years, produced a popular penny "Topps Gum" from a factory in Brooklyn, New York. After World War II, the company developed Bazooka Bubble Gum, and in 1950, added trading cards to its product line. Baseball cards appeared in 1951 and quickly became a vital part of pop culture, a tradition that continues to this day.
Topps' sports and entertainment business produces trading cards, sticker album collections, and collectible games related to iconic global brands such as Major League Baseball, National Football League, Star Wars, English Premiere League, Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, and World Wrestling Entertainment,. The company has also expanded its portfolio of products to include digital trading cards that are sold via the Apple and Google app stores under the brand names BUNT, HUDDLE, and KICK. Topps' confectionery brands, which are marketed under its "Bazooka Candy Brands" division, include "Bazooka" bubble gum, "Ring Pop," "Push Pop," "Baby Bottle Pop," and "Juicy Drop Pop" confectionary items.
Topps was acquired in October 2007 by Madison Dearborn Partners, a private equity group, and Michael Eisner, former CEO of Disney.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assisting with the consolidated forecasting process and own portions of the financial forecast models, including P&L, cash flow, and supporting schedules/analyses. Ensure their quality, timeliness, and accuracy.
Reporting of actual vs. plan, prior year, and current forecast
Monthly expense reporting by division/department
Assisting with the preparation of Senior Management presentations/meetings (Monthly Business Reviews, Board of Directors meetings, forecast review meetings, etc.)
Performing monthly close and forecasts as well as tracking of various projects for all corporate overhead departments
Conducting and summarizing ad hoc analyses
Compiling data for royalty report submissions
Monitoring and reporting on accounts receivable
Building summary templates of financial performance
Supporting the creation of the annual and multi-year strategic plan.
1-3 years of finance and/or accounting experience
Some experience in budgeting, forecasting, and planning
Hyperion application use
