Job Description:

Seattle Pacific University is a leading institution committed to excellence in education and fostering financial vitality. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to our mission-driven organization and support strategic decision-making through data analysis and financial expertise.

As a Financial Analyst, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate budget information, developing financial models, and providing analysis to support decision-making processes. You will collaborate closely with various departments and stakeholders to ensure financial goals are met and budgets are effectively managed.

Job duties include:

Budget Management

  • Maintain and review budget information, develop budget models, and assess adjustments for staffing and expenditures.

Financial Analysis

  • Develop ad hoc financial budgets, models, and analyses to support decision-making and risk management for new programs and activities.

Variance Analysis

  • Analyze and prepare variance analysis reports against budget/forecast using financial metrics.

Budget Preparation

  • Support processes to prepare the budget, load budgets, and reconcile results.

Multi-year Budget Planning

  • Assist in analyzing multi-year budget planning processes by analyzing financial and non-financial information.

Policy Management

  • Manage and maintain financial analysis and budgeting policies and procedures.

Standard Budgeting Assumptions

  • Assist in analyzing annual standard budgeting assumptions related to revenues, compensation, benefits, and capital spending.

Faculty Salary Process

  • Assist with the faculty salary process and monitor faculty salaries.

Fringe Benefit Allocation

  • Prepare and maintain fringe benefit allocation rates and insurance allocations.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and contribute to implementing improvements to policies, processes, tools, and systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.

  • 2-3 years of accounting or financial planning/budget experience.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently.

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in Advanced Excel, Access, and ability to work with ERP systems.

  • An understanding of mathematical formulas (statistical analysis) used in financial modeling is required.

  • Maturing and contagious Christian faith, knowledge of and the willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Major coursework in data science or information technology.

  • Experience with ERP implementation and financial planning cloud-based software.

  • Knowledge of Tableau or Power BI is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred.

Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled. After an initial training period, this position may be allowed to work a hybrid schedule, arranged with the department. Employee must reside in the state of Washington.

Compensation: $29.81 - $31.25 per hour, DOE

This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes generous contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
