Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Financial Analyst in the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy & Aging Research.

Under supervision of the CFO, this position provides financial and budgeting support to the Business Department by coordinating analyses, planning, forecasting, and the preparation of financial reports to facilitate budgets. The Financial Analyst develops, interprets, and implements financial accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning and control by performing the following duties.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provides financial support to the CFO by preparing (by center) analyses, forecasting, and financial reports.

  • Responsible for financial reporting for the IFH Centers and prepares concise and timely monthly/quarterly reports for all assigned areas in accordance with departmental objectives.

  • Responsible for analyzing costs in relation to services performed both sponsored & non sponsored.

  • Reviews actual to budget and forecast to budget variance analysis and provides variance explanations in conjunction with review by the Business Manager & CFO.

  • Assists in development of business processes and financial analysis to ensure operational goals, objectives and strategies are met.

  • Streamlines existing process and recommends process improvements.

  • Identifies expense trends and provides recommendations for improvements.

  • Establishes and maintains folders for analyses and centers to have ease of access.

  • Evaluates large amount of complex financial transactions and recommends impact on the Institute & Centers ensuring the integrity of the data is accurate.

  • Responsible for updating and calculating financial forecasting methodologies for various financial data.

  • Participates in meetings with the Business Department & all pertinent meetings with University Finance, trainings, and committees.

  • Provides reporting for monthly draw-downs for the centers & Institute.

  • Manages the forecast & budget process utilizing the financial data collection process and budget systems.

  • Reconciles payroll

  • Other duties as identified within the Business Department to support the Institute & it's Centers.
