The Opportunity

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Global Information Technology group. In this position you will assist the team with operational and capital financial management, internal financial analysis/reporting, and budget/forecast variance reporting.

The Financial Analyst in this role will coordinate with the Global Procurement team and Project Managers to ensure accuracy of purchase order creation, updates/extensions, reconciliation of invoice reconciliations, purchase order approvals and receipts. The position is based in West Chester, PA

Your Impact

Financial Management

  • Provide financial analysis, guided modeling and advisory services to the Information Technology group. Provide management with accurate and timely information necessary to make strategic operating decisions

  • Track and report financial performance comparing actuals vs. budget, prior year/forecasts and determine cause of variance

  • Identify trends and factors leading to financial performance - recommend possible cost cutting strategies and solutions to manage risks and opportunities

  • Reconcile invoices for accuracy, track financial expenses and monitor actual results vs. budget

  • Work with IT employees to educate and train on financial procedures, policies and systems

  • Coordinate with Procurement, IT Managers and Project Managers to monitor status of purchase orders including: accuracy of data during creation, updates and extensions, reconciliation of invoice reconciliations, approvals and receipts

Business Analysis

  • Develop a baseline of cost of production and resource utilization - apply budgets to key projects, determine a return value on infra expenses

  • Predict/model impact based on changing key technology changes such as staffing, new technology implementations, retirement of platforms/software

  • Identify efficiencies and scalability and implement these across the department

  • Maintain a repository of existing vendor contracts and coordinate the timely renewal/termination or extension of contracts

  • Support the implementation and continued evolution of a more robust and automated budgeting and planning application

  • Support of the monthly forecast and annual budget process for their assigned business unit. This includes the development of supporting models and documentation for input into a Global business model. Including standardized template creation


  • Maintain internal, online, financial systems with all relevant information to short and graph individual expense categories by department

  • Communicate the information to appropriate parties and reconciles the information with Finance, Procurement, Accounting, Tax, Legal to verify accuracy and completeness

  • Produce ad-hoc business unit performance reports and analytics that provide contextual and actionable information for the IT leadership team

  • Conduct monthly and quarterly review actual to budget and re-forecast for future quarters

  • Work collaboratively with assigned business unit management to continuously improve financial reporting and performance measurement

What you Bring

  • 2-4 years' experience in corporate finance, business analysis and/or equivalent experience. Strong analytical skills and financial modeling

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance; Masters, CMA, and/or CPA preferred

  • Minor in Management Information Science a plus

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP as it relates to capital and expense accounting rules

  • Experience with preparing annual budget and capital forecast

  • Proficiency in Excel required

  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of SAP FI/CO, SAP Project Systems, SAP BPC preferred

  • Knowledge of financial management processes and accounting standards

  • Experience with portfolio management and capital expenditures and impact to all financial statements, preferred

Proud to be an equal opportunity employer.</p><p>As a member of the Innovation Franchise finance team, the SFA will play a key role providing financial leadership, support, and analytics to the DePuy Sythes PCM (Pre-Clinical, Clinical, and Medical Affairs) Organization. They will work very closely with the business in the development and delivery of financial analytics and support of critical business strategies and decision making.</p><p>Role Objective:</p><p>The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Innovation Finance Manager and support the DePuy Synthes Franchise. This person will be responsible for preparing financial analysis, identifying solutions and opportunities for the business, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure financial decisions are aligned with the business strategy. The senior financial analyst will be expected to influence business partners with fact based financial data and must demonstrate business acumen through insights and business knowledge.</p><p>Major Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Partner closely with the PCM leaders to build and track all spend related to evidence generation studies to ensure that priority programs are appropriately funded.</p></li><li><p>Prepare financials and provide leadership support during business plan, forecast updates, and latest thinking. Communicate potential risks or opportunities for meeting expected results and propose recommendations and solutions.</p></li><li><p>Own all aspects of the month end closing process, (preparation of journal entries and accruals, providing commentary on actual versus budgeted results, headcount reporting, etc.). Provide insightful business performance commentary to key internal and external stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with the Innovation Finance team within DPS to develop, manage, and consolidate PCM financials across the platforms and support adhoc requests.</p></li><li><p>Partner with the Innovation Finance teams across Medical Device (Ethicon &amp; CSS) and provide detailed financials related to Medical Operations support and investments.</p></li><li><p>Develop and implement new process improvements (i.e. enhanced reporting, analytics, etc.).</p></li><li><p>Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and GAAP requirements.</p></li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>A minimum of a BS/BA is required. A degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
