Job Purpose:

As a Financial Analyst or Associate in the Corporate Valuation Advisory Services (CVAS) practice's Complex Securities team, you will join a small, specialized, and fast growing team serving corporate clients from a large variety of industries. You will collaborate with both junior and senior team members on client engagements to perform complex valuations of financial instruments (i.e. debt and derivatives) and create statistical analyses / models.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Develop quantitative models to value unique financial instruments

  • Improve existing internal modelling processes

  • Perform statistical and data analyses

  • Present analyses and conclusions both internally and externally

  • Basic Qualifications:

  • COVID vaccination required, subject to applicable state and federal law

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. finance, statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering)

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in financial reporting valuation for a Financial Analyst

  • 3-6 years of experience in financial reporting valuation for an Associate

  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments, derivatives valuation theory, and statistical methods

  • Keen analytical capabilities with high attention to detail

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience valuing financial instruments with non-linear payoffs including convertible bonds, warrants, derivatives, earn-outs, and complex capital structures using closed form solutions, binomial lattices, and Monte Carlo simulations in either Python, R, or Matlab

  • Experience working with large data sets, performing statistical analyses in Python, and presenting results with data visualization software such as Tableau

  • Demonstrated history of building and improving models and processes that automate routine calculations using Python and VBA

  • Passion for financial markets and data analysis

WHAT YOU'LL NEED * Experience in financial modeling, managing, and delivering a variety of types of complex security valuation analysis with a focus on the following: * ASC 805 - Business Combinations (Purchase Price Allocations) for large private and public companies including intangible asset valuation and earnouts; * Deep experience related to complex securities valuations including embedded derivatives, warrants, SAFE notes, convertible securities, and preferred tranche liabilities; * Experience modeling and conducting Monte Carlo simulation analysis, Lattice models and Black-Scholes Option Pricing analysis as they relate to complex securities and earnout valuations; * Experience related to SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies); * SAS 73 reviews of third-party appraisals for audit support purposes of SEC or soon to be SEC registrants; * An interest in developing and retaining strong client relationships and expanding the services that we provide to our clients; * An ability to work independently and a and willingness to take valuation projects from start to finish; * An ability to manage multiple projects at a time, and coordinate appropriate staff; * A commitment to continual skills development as industry standards advance and change; * Ensure quality control standards are met; * Supervise and mentor staff; provide timely and effective performance feedback and training; * Contribute to team environment and a positive culture. * Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, accounting, finance, statistics, mathematics, or engineering, MBA a plus; * Minimum of 4 years of valuation experience within a business valuation firm or valuation practice of an accounting or consulting firm; * Prior experience effectively resolving external review issues (auditors, IRS, etc.); * Strong client communication skills; * Excellent report writing skills, financial modeling skills, the ability to work well in a team environment; * Relevant professional and/or valuation designation(s) including, but not limited to: ASA, CPA, CFA, CEIV, CVFI, ABV, or CVA; * Ability to develop external relationships (networking, referral sources, etc.) and the desire and ability to bring new clients into the business; * Strong client management, consulting, communication, and leadership skills managing expectations and delivering high quality solutions on-time within scope and budget; * Detail oriented, flexible, and responsive; * Position may require some level of travel including to the San Francisco Bay Area.
