National Express Corporation is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to work in the Financial Analysis & Operations Planning department from our Cincinnati, OH office. This position is responsible for providing operational and financial analysis support and serves as the critical liaison between the operations and corporate finance teams.

This position partners with management in an assigned geographical region(s) by reporting operational KPIs and system efficiency and the subsequent financial impact of their performance. In addition, they support the creation and implementation of action plans to improve overall operational efficiency.

Position Objectives:

  • Monitor and create regional action plans to improve operational KPIs such as, wage to revenue percentage, indirect hours, idling, spare fleet, driver staffing, GPS device health, system compliance (COMPASS, Zonar) etc.

  • Establish and ensure continuous improvement of best practices within the area and across the organization

  • Create financial models to link performance to drive sustainable improvement in financial results from changes in underlying operational practices.

  • Assist in the preparation of a monthly package to review area operational and financial performance, along with key company initiatives

  • Participate in the annual planning / budgeting process as required

  • Work with the Great Lakes Finance Manager, RMs, and CSC GMs to create action plans to achieve performance excellence and financial stability

  • Participate in various special hoc projects providing research and analysis as well as solutions

  • Generate monthly revenue and expense accruals, assisting CSC General Managers during month end close processes and providing ongoing support to ensure accuracy of monthly results.

  • Complete annual State of Ohio T2C reports timely for Great Lakes Customers.

  • Provide training and systems support at School start up and integrations.

  • Strong communication skills across all mediums verbal, written, PowerPoint, etc. including the ability to clearly convey financial concepts to colleagues with varying level of financial acumen

  • Strong financial acumen, strong variance analysis capability and knowledge of how to build, monitor and track action plans

  • Broad business knowledge and organizational awareness as well as an understanding of business profitability drivers

  • Strong project management skills ability to multi-task under high pressure situations with a sense of urgency

  • Should be comfortable operating within a dynamic and complex organizational structure, and be effective in a team-oriented environment

  • Confidentiality and discretion demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information in an appropriate manner

  • Past experience presenting to members of the highest senior management

  • Demonstrates a high degree of self-motivation, and the ability to work independently

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills

  • Intellectually curious with an ability to handle steep learning curves

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance, MBA a plus

  • 2-4 years' experience in general business operations, finance or financial systems

  • Working knowledge of modeling software to prepare reports and conduct financial analyses, experience with Oracle

Assists in timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial consolidation close processes using Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules for disclosures required for external reporting and in compliance with US GAAP/SEC reporting requirements2. Assists with the coordination and oversight of the close and consolidation process3. Maintains support and completes month-end data integrity checks, journal entries, and core account reconciliations. 4. Ensures the completeness and accuracy of all consolidation related data5. Presents the Balance Sheet Causal to Corporate Accounting and Finance Teams6. Assists business units with monthly close questions and supplemental data collections7. Assists Corporate with late journal entries and ad-hoc data analysis requests8.
