The Opportunity:

This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions for General Ledger (GL) to ensure the efficient, timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions for the Mattel Shared Service Solution. In addition, the position is also responsible for global maintenance of the general ledger including the chart of accounts, cross validation rules, and mapping to and from other systems. This position is also responsible to verify that GL transactions are handled in accordance with GAAP, Mattel Company policies, accounting industry guidelines as well as the MGSS Vision and the MGSS Mission Statement. The role will partner with our Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) offshore team.

This position is part of a team located in the East Aurora Mattel Shared Services center, reporting to the Sr. Manager, GL and Indirect Tax

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Monthly financial closes; journals entry prep/review/approvals, reporting, analysis, etc.

  • Reviews Account reconciliations, ensuring appropriate documentation to support transactions, accuracy, and timely resolution.

  • Responds and assists Business units with questions, resolving issues and providing recommendations.

  • Assists in training, support, and review of work of BPO members of the team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

  • Quarterly and year-end financial closes. Reviewing schedules and forms that are due throughout the year for accuracy. Working with internal and external auditors to get them the information they require.

  • Working on special projects as required in the general ledger area (e.g. intercompany, company reorganizations, changes associated with other systems). Pursuing continuous process improvements including identifying and implementing those improvements.

  • Work closely with the BPO team, ensuring cultural alignment to Mattel vision and values - building a consistent and aligned Team (One team mentality).

  • Support/Input the development of end state vision for the R2R (Record to Report) organization - inclusive of Global processes, standards, and efficiencies to create target operating model.

  • Effectively manages and prioritizes strategic initiatives across organization in support of target operating model.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent in experience required.

  • Knowledge and experience in Accounting related field - CPA is an asset.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in General ledger, financial reporting, audit related roles.

  • Experience working in a Global Shared Services Operating Model; GL F&A preferred.

  • Experience working with a BPO environment.

  • History of driving change through innovation and standardization.

  • Experience with transition management.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience utilizing major ERP system, HFM, Cognos reporting tools; Oracle Financials a plus.

  • Computer proficiency: MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft SharePoint.

  • Analytical abilities and are capable of synthesizing and prioritizing a large volume of information. You use logic and trusted expertise to derive a variety of scenarios and solutions. You can think critically to make clear, well-reasoned and rational decisions.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $66,000 and $83,000.

This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
