Kyriba is looking for a talented Financial Analyst to join our team in San Diego. As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible and expected to provide business partnership and technical analytical support to functional leaders as they develop and execute their strategic priorities. You will support both the revenue and expense forecasting processes for the organization, perform budget vs actual variance analysis, and support management reporting. Responsibilities will also include performing ad hoc analysis as needed. In addition, the person in this position will help the FP&A team develop and implement processes to support the needs of a growing company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support a variety of FP&A forecasts, budgeting and reporting processes

  • Support monthly budget versus actual variance analysis and reporting for business partners

  • Analyze monthly department spending for functional departments

  • Partner with budget owners to drive improvements in forecasting and spending efficiencies

  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions and leverage operational efficiencies

  • Identify opportunities and highlight risks to the attainment of targeted metrics

  • Maintain analysis for KPIs and reporting for such metrics

  • Assist with driving and supporting finance and accounting improvement initiatives

Education, Experience and

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or economics

  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience

  • Expert Excel and PowerPoint skills; ability to handle large volumes of data

  • Hands on experience with Adaptive or a similar planning/forecasting tool is a plus

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

  • A high level of integrity and ability to enforce standards

  • Polished interpersonal and team skills; ability to communicate clear and concisely; ability to work with multifunctional team in multiple geographies

  • Prior experience in Software-as-a-Services companies is a plus

  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus

DESCRIPTION The mission of the newly founded Data Science Institute is to advance the scientific foundations for this exciting new field, and to support education and training of students who will be the new leaders in this area. Digital data have emerged as central to addressing critical societal needs and enhancing the quality of life in the coming decades. Data science touches virtually all aspects of life on our planet. At the campus level, UC San Diego already has tremendous strength in this area, ranging across all segments of the university. For this reason, the Institute has been established as an independent unit that works collaboratively with schools, divisions, departments, centers, and faculty and students across the entire campus. The Institute is overseen by a faculty director, who report to an Oversight Committee chaired by the Chancellor. The Institute will be the administrative home for the newly established undergraduate B.S. major and minor in Data Science, and will work with departments and the Academic Senate to create additional graduate programs in data science. The institute will support collaborations between researchers across campus and will also provide critical resources to support innovation in data science. The incumbent will use professional concepts and apply organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. S/he will work on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. The incumbent will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department, but may also be external. Under the general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the incumbent is responsible for financial administration and the management and analysis of all Department funds including state, contract and grant, gifts and donations. Duties include analysis of fiscal data, financial report preparation, forecasting expenses, short and long term budget planning, and creative thinking for various financial situations. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as the Express Card Administrator and alternate DSA, as well as supervise the administration of payroll processing. QUALIFICATIONS * Thorough knowledge of University policies and procedures related to the management of funds; knowledge of the rules and regulations that pertain to accounting, contract and grant administration, purchasing, and disbursements (including travel). * Strong demonstrated fiscal/accounting skills. Proven experience with and knowledge of finance, general accounting practices, business management, fund accounting, audit trails. * Ability to anticipate and analyze departmental issues, and possess skill to identify and effectively coordinate resources to meet Department needs. * Proven ability to investigate, analyze, and compile financial and budgetary data, and to develop and implement sound budget recommendations. Ability to effectively communicate results. * Strong ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. * Proficient use of Excel and Access for data management and the development of spreadsheets for budget and personnel reports. * Thorough familiarity with University auditing standards, and ability to develop and implement appropriate procedures for Departmental adherence. * Ability to recognize current spending trends and project future expenditures.
