Job Description
The Financial Analyst III, under direction, assists in the management and deployment of the university budget. Coordinates legislative analysis, budget preparation, and the forecast of capital assets and operating costs. Develops financial and statistical models, serves as consultant to campus departments, and provides analysis and reports. Provides budget training.
Responsibilities:
Assists in the management and deployment of the university budget.
Coordinates legislative analysis, budget preparation, and the forecast of capital assets and operating costs.
Participates in the bi-annual development of the legislative appropriations request.
Develops financial models to support strategic and programmatic goals.
Develops and maintains statistical models to perform revenue and expense forecasting.
Develops major presentations for communicating budget and other financial information to various audiences.
Serves as an internal consultant to campus departments.
Responds to requests from various state governmental offices and agencies.
Analyzes financial statements and prepares management reports.
Reviews and approves/denies all Departmental Budget Transfer requests, Position Management Requisitions and Employee Payroll Action documents.
Ensure GL/SL reconciliations are being performed to prevent negative cash balances.
Regularly monitors and provides reports on SSCH to ensure actual revenue collections meet estimates.
Provides budget training to university employees.
Creates automated reports to enhance efficiencies and automates workflows.
Enhances data management, reporting, and data integrity in the Systems data warehouse.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree .
Five (5) years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree
Higher education financial analytical
Use of business intelligence software and budget and planning software
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Documentable above average computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Visio, and Outlook).
Use of pivot tables will be critical.
Analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with large data sets, prepares meaningful reports, and conduct presentations.)
