Gen Re Life currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Financial Analyst to work remotely based out of our Stamford, CT office.

Role Description

The Technical Accounting team within Gen Re Life Health is seeking a Financial Analyst responsible for handling complex Life and Health reinsurance transactions and ensuring compliance with reinsurance agreements.

Role responsibilities:

• Manage assigned portfolio of life insurance clients.

• Perform premium validations.

• Process premium payments and record monthly statistics.

• Analyze premium fluctuations, prepare accruals, and review aged receivables.

• Ensure treaty compliance down to the policy-level.

• Maintain relationships with your assigned client contacts.

• Responsible for complex issue resolution both internally and externally.

• Assist claims team with premium related questions on complex claims within your assigned portfolio.

• Conduct periodic client audits (both remotely and onsite).

• Contribute to the enhancement of internal process documentation and process improvement.

• Support the financial close as requested (e.g., opening and closing financial periods, reporting, retro calculations).

• Be a subject matter expert contributing towards technical solutions.

Role Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of life and/or health reinsurance technical accounting experience for both assumed and ceded business.

• Extremely strong organizational, prioritization, documentation, process improvement, and time management skills.

• Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task.

• Prior experience with financial close processes or willingness to learn.

• Prior experience working with IT resources to resolve system issues.

• Advanced MS Excel skill (vlookups, pivot tables, formula building) required.

• Experience using PowerBI is a plus.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• The ability to exercise professional judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.

• Excellent team player with the ability to build meaningful relationships with clients and internal colleagues.

• Minimal travel maybe required.

• Bachelor's degree required.

Salary Range

78,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
