Position Summary:

  • Reports financial status by preparing and analyzing financial plans, forecasts, and reports. Provide support to business, through information analyses (e.g. current processes, actual performance vs. budget and prior year, budget, etc.), preparation of operational data/analyses for publication to various constituents throughout company (Management, Sales, Product Management, Operations, etc.) who rely on/benefit from the information to make informed business decisions

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Tracks financial status by monitoring variances from plan.

  • Determines financial status by comparing and analyzing plans and forecasts with actual results. Improves financial status by analyzing results and variances; identifying trends; recommending actions.

  • Creates financial decision support for Financial Planning & Analysis.

  • Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data. Increases productivity by developing automated applications; eliminating duplications; coordinating information requirements.

  • Provides information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Accomplishes finance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

  • Including but not limited to revenue, margin, expense analysis and unit costing.

  • Primary responsibilities will include assisting Financial Planning & Analysis team in the Monthly Operations Review, identification of areas for cost reductions and operational improvements, annual budget process, periodic forecasting, and periodic analysis of operations performance.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.

  • Collaborate with business partners to deliver accurate and timely results, including relevant variance explanations.

Additional Considerations:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3 or more years related experience

  • Strong PC and Microsoft application skills

  • Excel expertise required (pivots, V-lookups, macros)

Desired:

  • Access and Sequel preferred

  • Cognos and JDEdwards preferred

  • General Ledger knowledge preferred

  • Prefer degree in Accounting or Finance

  • CPA, CMA or CFA preferred

Senior Financial Analyst * Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements. * Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the preparation of reporting requirements, assigned analysis, and projects. * Enhance, improve, and maintain written procedures for the accounting department. * Provide robust statistical analytics to support product modeling, insured behavior, pricing sensitivity, pricing studies. * Ability to present complex problems in simple terms * Continuously improve analytical capability of the team to provide insightful and relevant recommendations to drive business decision making. * Review financial statements and related comprehensive analyses for variances and trends. * Demonstrate innovation in collaborating with other departments to develop effective financial data and reports from various systems. * Initiate, develop and maintain financial and operational accounting efficiencies. * Provide innovative ideas to the accounting/finance department as well as improve efficiencies to various aspects of the department. * Assist in the coordination and preparation of third party audit and review materials. * Assist in the implementation of changes in accounting/finance (for systems and reporting) as well as the implementation of new accounting standards and policies. * Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as required by parent company. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements * Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, MBA and/or CPA a plus. * At least 2 yrs. experience in Accounting & Finance * Strong analytic, financial modeling and reporting skills. * Ability to work with advanced spreadsheets, general ledger accounting systems, and other general technology. * Ability to dissect raw accounting data into a summarized management analysis. * Ability to perform research on current and new accounting and/or finance related issues * Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases and spreadsheets * Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. * Ability to work independently and in a team based environment. * Strong written and verbal communication skills.
