The Financial Analyst 3 - Medical and Sylvester Development reports to the Executive Director, Development Resources and will assist with the strategic financial planning for Medical and Sylvester Development. This position will be a financial professional who has exceptional analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organization and time management capabilities. The Financial Analyst 3 will possess the ability to present business information to senior leadership in a manner easily understood by non-financial professionals. An attention to detail and insistence on the accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and usefulness of business information will be important characteristics. Moreover, the incumbent establishes and enforces policies and procedures that further the department(s) financial goals and objectives.

Specific Core Duties include:

  • Directs the preparation of regular and special budget reports for various departments and sub departments.

  • Analyzes monthly department budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls.

  • Designs and builds revenue/cost models that summarize several different scenarios around growth and expansion.

  • Develops financial plans and incremental cost/benefit analysis.

  • Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and makes recommendations to senior management.

  • Devises financial forecasting and reconciliation of accounts.

  • Reviews reports and ensures that financial information has been recorded accurately.

  • Reviews operating budgets to analyze trends affecting budget needs.

  • Collects and analyzes data to detect deficient controls, duplicated efforts or non-compliance with regulatory policy.

  • Compares results with plans and forecasts and makes recommendations for adjustments.

  • Assists in the development and organization of department and project budgets.

  • Develops performance and productivity dashboards, models or analyses.

  • Acts as liaison to other departments, vendors, and other external parties to complete assignments.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Specific duties related to but not limited to Medical and Sylvester Development

Monitor and maintain Medical Development and Sylvester Development budgets. Oversee Medical Development suspense account for all medical units ensuring gift funds are created in accordance with donor intent. Consult with assigned departments regarding budget, financial reports, reconciliations, irregular and unusual transactions, and problem resolutions. Responsible for fiscal year closing of assigned accounts. Review with Gift Officers and monitor pledge aging report; work with Medical Finance on collectability. Monitor and maintain gifts with reporting and or/matching gift requirements. Work with Departments to ensure gifts are spent in a timely manner according to donor intent. Work with Medical Finance to ensure regular gift reporting to Departments.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
