SUNY Niagara is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Enrollment Center team as a Financial Aid Technical Assistant. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Admissions and Records office as well as other campus departments to assist students with the financial aid process. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication abilities, and a passion for helping students and supporting their success by meeting with them to discuss and implement the Financial Aid process.

Typical Work Activities

1.Financial Aid duties may include:

  • Balance the Pell program,

  • Monitor and process academic standards for student files,

  • Assist the Director with the audit file review,

  • Process student loans,

  • Assist the director with filing the FISAP,

  • Coordinate financial aid outreach including helping students complete FAFSA's, withdrawal and overdue account advisement.

  • Manage student ISIRs,

  • Implement and update the financial aid award system,

  • Oversee the SEOG and Federal Work Study programs,

  • Reconcile the grants and loans programs,

  • Disburse funds from COD,

  • Oversee Veterans awarding, certification, work study and events.

2.Assist prospective students with the Financial Aid process.

3.Attend college fairs, parents' nights, SUNY recruitment functions, and other recruitment-oriented activities and events both on and off campus.

4.Plan & implement financial aid activities for students from all backgrounds which may include high school visits, business & industry, community-based organizations and other markets as assigned by supervisor.

5.Support daily operations of the Enrollment Center.

6.Serve on college committees as requested.

7.Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

Essential Functions

Must be able to relate well to navigate relationships with a diverse population of the administration, faculty, staff and student body and prospective students; must be able to coordinate numerous tasks and projects simultaneously; must be able to operate the student data base system; must be able to prepare and present reports; must be able to prepare and provide presentations to groups; must have capability to travel; must be able to work evenings and weekends as required; ability to physically perform the duties of the position with or without an accommodation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree;

  • One year full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience working in a higher education setting;

  • Work experience that includes preparing and making presentations to groups.

  • Valid driver's license.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration/Higher Education or related field;

  • Experience in college financial aid processing.

  • Experience with Banner student information system;

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Publisher.
