Galen College is looking for a Financial Aid Specialist to ensure accurate and timely administration of Title IV programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Thorough documentation in CampusVue regarding student contacts.

  • Run NSLDS checks and upload into CampusVue daily. Send Default letters as needed.

  • Perform all withdrawal calculations within federal guidelines.

  • Send collection items (from Withdrawals) to Campus FAA/Bursar for collection activity.

  • Create and send out Exit Letters and Loan Fact Sheets. Assign the Exit Counseling Document to the students in their final term.

  • Perform ISIR corrections.

  • Perform verification reviews for all campuses.

  • Communicate with the Campus Financial Aid staff about missing items, additional items needed, etc. regarding any issues related to verification.

  • Package the Title IV financial aid for new potential students and repacks for continuing students.

  • Communicate with the Campus Financial Aid staff and/or FA Specialist (Verification) about missing items, additional items needed, etc. regarding any issues which prevent packaging.

  • Assign additional documents for students as needed.

  • Assist in other phases of financial aid as necessary.

  • Attend financial aid training, workshops and seminars as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED, some college helpful.

  • Experience in using Microsoft systems such as Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer

Special Qualifications:

Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people. Position requires great attention to detail, time management skills, and willingness to be a team player. Ability to document all communications with students in CampusVue. The candidate must have the ability to enroll in and be granted access to all Department of Education websites, including but not limited to NSLDS, COD, CPS, etc. Only candidates with no history of prior student loan default will be considered.

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:

Must be able to sit at a computer desk for eight hours each day.

The Financial Specialist serves the Association's internal and external customers by preparing financial loan packages for system and manual underwriting decisions in a timely manner that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Provides assistance to Credit Analysts in loan processing activities and support for the local marketplace delivery team. Perform standardized and consistent financial input and monitoring for all levels and types of operations. Work in a team environment to accomplish goals. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide financial input support for Credit Analysts and Retail Teams. * Analyzing, servicing, and monitoring lower risk and less complex loans * Confirm, assemble, and input financial data including balance sheets, tax returns, income statements, and cash flow statements into the Association's portfolio management database for all levels and types of operations where some interpretation and decision-making would be required. * Receive loan information and conduct other analysis, research and/or calculations, as needed, before data is entered into the system e.g., multiple entity loans, cash flow calculations, income statement preparation, prepared tax returns, and/or specialty input work. * Construct consolidated financial information. Complete After-Close/RCU balance sheets, Income Statements, and Analysis Summaries. * Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Respond to inquiries from Retail teammates regarding the financial input status of loans. Successfully communicate with Retail teammates any needs for missing and/or inconclusive information on loan requests. * May assist with cross-training and mentoring new employees and other Financial Specialists. May serve in roles for special projects. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience Two year college degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Four year college degree preferred and/or a combination of related experience or specialized training.
