SUMMARY

The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for a variety of activities which include performing Federal Verification, managing and administering Federal Grant and Federal Direct Loan Programs, and assisting with Title IV refund calculations. Performs other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sends financial aid packets with cover letter to all accelerated students requesting

information needed for award processing and verification.

Preps verification files for Award Packagers by performing Federal Verification

for all selected students and applicants, for all campus locations, in accordance with Federal Guidelines. Requests verification documents from all students selected for verification.

Assists with document data entry into the PowerFAIDS System as necessary.

Oversees the electronic processing of the Federal Pell Grant Program including electronic reporting of all awards and monthly reconciliation of funds.

Oversees the electronic processing of the Federal Direct Loan Program including electronic reporting of all awards and monthly reconciliation of funds.

Communicates with COD as needed in order to facilitate the Pell Grant and Direct Loan Programs.

Confirms student eligibility for aid awards prior to disbursement and processes electronic disbursement of all aid awards to the GMercyU Billing Office.

Runs and manages reports as needed from PowerFaids and PowerCampus Systems.

Assists with the completion of annual reports and surveys when necessary.

Assists with periodic audits of the PowerFAIDS system to identify and fix errors in order to maintain data standards.

Assists with Title IV refund calculations for students who withdraw from their program of study and returns funds electronically to COD as necessary.

Works flexible hours at multiple locations depending on departmental needs.

Counsels students as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education \Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred and 1-3 years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of Federal Student Aid Regulations especially related to verification and aid eligibility requirements preferred.

Technical Skills

Computer proficiency (PC Windows applications such as Excel, Word) is a must. Knowledge of financial aid software such as PowerFaids is highly desirable.

Must be capable of managing computers effectively. Has the ability to import/export files from one software to another.

Language Skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Mathematical Skills

Excellent computation skills and ability to analyze data.

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others. Must demonstrate attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and strong customer service skills.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to handle multiple projects and priorities and work well under pressure.

Description SUMMARY A Public Safety Security Officer has unique and specific responsibilities. Officers are responsible for patrolling the entire campus by foot, bicycle, vehicle, or fixed post to ensure the security, safety, and welfare of the Gwynedd Mercy University community, its guests and visitors. This position is classified as essential, full-time, 40 hours per week. The Security Officer is expected to be on campus when scheduled regardless of whether the University is closed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Provide or facilitates in providing a clear, safe, quiet and secure environment for all. Performs security duties either at a fixed post, or while making rounds of University buildings and grounds. * Checks for unauthorized persons, general security violations, or safety hazards. * Reports all problems and emergencies to immediate supervisor and documents incidents with a written report. * Verifies the appropriateness of persons on University campus. Checks ID badges and ensures that employees and students are permitted in appropriate buildings. Ensures that visitors comply with visiting regulations and schedules. * Provides security services, which includes patrol of campus buildings and grounds on foot, includes climbing steps, driving a vehicle, or a bicycle and performing security checks as needed, gives directions, provides escorts, provides first aid, locks and unlocks doors/facilities as required or authorized. * Provides escorts with service and friendly demeanor in order to reinforce comfort level. - Issues tickets and regulates campus vehicle and pedestrian traffic to enhance safety and expedite traffic flow. * Diffuses any difficult situation with conflict resolution skills. * Provides security services during special events such as Commencement, Open Houses, University weekend events, sporting events, social functions, etc. * Reports any incident that seems unusual/deficient to immediate supervisor as necessary. * Monitors access into the Residence Halls and responds to fire and security alarms. * In conjunction with the Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department, Officers may investigate on campus criminal offenses and provides support to victims of crime. * Enforces parking regulations throughout the university. Issues tickets and regulates campus vehicle and pedestrian traffic to enhance safety and expedite traffic flow. Notifies supervisor to call for tow truck and/or police services as may be necessary. * Submits written reports as required and contributes information essential to the effective operation and management of the Public Safety Department. * Responds to emergency situations including but not limited to: security and phone activated alarms, fire alarms, evacuations, illnesses and injuries, in a timely manner. Responds to calls from employees or supervisors of employees who are injured on the job. * Maintains daily patrol log. Documents all safety/security actions taken during a tour of duty. Makes entry on patrol log at least once every 15 minutes. Submits completed log to shift supervisor at completion of tour. Documents specific incident reports including the taking of photographs. * Responds promptly and positively to students, employees and visitors in a respectful, courteous, and confidential manner. Maintains an identifiable/professional attire at all times. * Answers telephones calls within three rings 95% of the time. Respects confidentiality of students and co-workers in all circumstances 100% of the time. Greets students, families, co-workers and others in a calm, professional, friendly manner by making eye contact, initiating conversation and identifying self by name. * Supports loss prevention. As directed by shift supervisor, inspects packages brought into and taken out of any University building. Performs safety rounds and identifies deficiencies for corrective action. * Acts as an information resource to university personnel, visitors and students. * Follows GMercyU and department policies and procedures. Attends mandatory sessions/meetings/in-services 100% of the time. * Adheres to GMercyU and department attendance policies and procedures and demonstrates knowledge and application of University and department procedures and policies. * Knowledge of dispatch systems, radio communications, fire systems, CCTV, emergency procedures and switchboard communications.
