About Quinsigamond Community College:
QCC was established in 1963 to provide access to higher education to residents of Central Massachusetts. Since the early 60s, enrollment has grown from 300 to over 13,000 full and part-time day and evening students served.
QCC offers over 70 associate degree and certificate career options in Business, Health Care, Technology, Liberal Arts, and Human Services. Additionally, over 137 credit and 300 noncredit courses are offered online, as well as a wide variety of classroom non-credit courses, workshops, and seminars. Classes are provided on the main campus, in downtown Worcester (Healthcare, Workforce Development, Continuing Education), at the Worcester Senior Center (Hospitality & Recreation Management), at Burncoat High School (Automotive Technology), and in the city of Southbridge.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Financial Aid Counselor/Senior Financial Aid Counselor will assist in the administration of Federal, State, and Institutional Financial Aid Programs. Primary responsibilities include reviewing Financial Aid Applications and packaging awards, managing federal and/or state program(s), and counseling students and their families.
The Financial Aid Counselor/Senior Financial Aid Counselor reports to an Associate Director of Financial Aid.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Financial Aid Counselor/Senior Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for:
1.Reviewing and verifying files and awarding Financial Aid
2.Determining eligibility for federal, state, and/or institutional funding, including award adjustments, performing professional judgments, reviewing Satisfactory Academic Progress, reviewing subsequent ISIRs, and other related responsibilities
3.Completing and/or coordinating projects.
4.Counseling and advising students and their families. Providing effective communication of information to students and their families via phone, in person, and by email.
5.Administering one or more Financial Aid programs, such as Pell Grant, Federal Work Study, and/or state scholarships/grant programs such as the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. Program(s) to be assigned based on the experience of the candidate and the needs of the department.
6.Performing Return to Title IV and Return to State Funds calculations, as assigned.
7.Making Financial Aid presentations on and off campus.
8.Covering Financial Aid needs at other college locations and providing coverage for evening and weekend office hours, as needed.
9.Performing other duties as assigned.
1.Two years' experience in a Financial Aid Office, with at least one year of professional level experience.
2.Demonstrated knowledge of Title IV Regulations.
3.Experience completing verification of student files and awarding financial aid.
4.Bachelor's Degree for Financial Aid Counselor / Master's Degree or equivalent; with two (2) years' experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
5.Willing to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
Experience working in a Community College.
Experience with PowerFAIDS or CampusNexus (now Anthology) software.
Experience with Jenzabar CX software.
Demonstrated knowledge of mainframe integrated computer systems and Microsoft Office.
Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to do public speaking.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills working in a very diverse environment.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
Full time benefited position. Anticipated starting salary for Financial Aid Counselor, MCCC Grade 3, is $47,597 per year , and for Senior Financial Aid Counselor, MCCC Grade 4, is $52,754 per year.
Classification will be determined by education and experience. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with MCCC/MTA salary schedule.
