Wedbush Securities is one of the largest full-service securities firms and investment banks in the nation. We provide innovative financial solutions through our Private Client Services, Capital Markets, and Clearing & Execution divisions. Our Los Angeles office is seeking an Mutual Funds Products Manager to join the Insurance Products area. The position is responsible for helping the Wealth Management team research and build competitive products, expanding on the existing Mutual Funds, Managed Assets, Alternatives and Specialized product suite. The position will be critical in validating new product ideas and leading implementation efforts for bringing complex, high-impact investment offerings to market.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop strategy of overall product offering within the unit

  • Develop trend analysis and other management reporting to present to senior management

  • Maintain and develop 3 rd party manager relationships including joint marketing and product promotional activities and events

  • Review and manage current and future Mutual Funds product suite, while staying abreast of industry trends, regulatory matters and market events affecting funds, managers, clients and the industry

  • Work with product leadership to execute on new and existing product initiatives

  • Source ideas internally through collaboration with investment teams, product developers, and distribution specialists

  • Partner with index providers and other 3rd parties to research and test new investment concepts

  • Identify opportunities to develop new products and services that are designed to enhance the product offering, improve client experience, and increase efficiency

  • Create and distribute information packages for review by the WS Investment committee for required approvals

  • Review and set up account guidelines by partnering with Legal and Marketing to draft, review, negotiate, and interpret the rules, guidelines, and regulations for client accounts

  • Work with Business Conduct on rules into compliance processing to ensure our funds and client accounts remain in compliance

  • Work on fund-related tasks and initiatives, including disclosure changes and new fund launches.

  • Perform other tasks and duties as required

Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited university required, preferably in Business or related field

  • 7+ years of financial industry experience specifically in a product development, product structuring or investment research; experience with Fund suite development projects required

  • 5+ years of related experience in managerial role preferred

  • Ability to travel extensively

  • Deep understanding of investment process with some experience working within investments, portfolio management and/or a trading organization

  • Ability to recognize different product features and structures as they relate to portfolio construction and trading

  • Working knowledge of the equity and fixed income capital markets and the Mutual Funds, Alternatives eco-system (competitors, products, various distribution channels, clients, index providers, etc.)

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong team skills and ability to coordinate effectively across multiple channels

  • Highly analytical, data- and results-driven but flexible approach to new ideas and concepts

  • Confidence and credibility to influence results with colleagues, management, and clients

  • Participated in research activities, product feasibility assessments, business case preparation, and overall product definition (feature lists and prioritization)

  • Self-motivated, ability to take direction, and excellent follow-through while meeting tight deadlines

  • Strong understanding of marketplaces models and the financial (or related) industry

  • Proven track record of launching successful products, following metrics that reflect are goal-oriented in leadership and management style

  • Extremely disciplined and organized approach to product and project management; must enjoy implementing task infrastructure and best practices

  • Previous experience in Financial Services, particularly broker/dealer

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
