Overview
This position is accountable to perform completely, accurately and efficiently varied and related duties involved with patient billing, insurance and managed care contracts, i.e. referrals, authorizations, etc., as well as administrative support, clerical, and patient support tasks. This position is also accountable for establishing acceptable financial arrangements on assigned patient accounts by way of securing sponsorship from various federal, state, and county agencies, in order to meet the patient?s financial obligation to Cone Health and ensure reimbursement accountability.
The position is responsible for obtaining authorizations and pre-certifications for patient visits, procedures, testing, and treatments. The position is responsible to collect, input/enter/post, audit, correct departmental patient charges and to review patient medical records as well as respond to denials for the Radiation Oncology department and ensure timely, complete, and accurate patient billing for the Radiation Oncology department. This position is accountable for the provision of Radiation Oncology clerical and administrative support functions including processing statistics, scheduling, patient record maintenance/compliance, etc. This position serves as a resource to others related to the clerical functions, administrative support functions, patient support functions, and patient billing functions of the Radiation Oncology department.

Responsibilities
Obtains authorizations and pre-certifications for patient visits, procedures, testing, and treatments. Provides assistance, researches and resolves authorization and pre-certification issues and denials.
Completes the referrals work queues functions.
Uses the department's disease management system and Cone Health's electronic medical record system, etc.--------------------------------------------------Collects, inputs/enters/posts, audits, corrects departmental patient charges and reviews patient medical records as well as responds to denials for the Radiation Oncology department. Completes the patient billing work queues functions.
Uses the department's disease management system and Cone Health's electronic medical record system, etc.--------------------------------------------------Performs Radiation Oncology clerical and administrative support functions including processing statistics, physician and patient scheduling, patient record maintenance, compliance, etc. Uses the department's disease management system and Cone Health's electronic medical record system, etc.--------------------------------------------------Screens, counsels, and refers patients related to financial sponsorships, completes financial applications for possible financial assistance, and provides follow up. Uses the department's disease management system and Cone Health's electronic medical record system, etc.--------------------------------------------------Performs insurance/managed care/government payer/self-pay and meaningful use related tasks.
Obtains radiation therapy cost information for patients. Uses the department's disease management system and Cone Health's electronic medical record system, etc.--------------------------------------------------Serves as a resource including providing knowledge, guidance, and direction to others in and outside of the department related to Radiation Oncology clerical, administrative support, patient support, and patient billing functions and processes. Uses the department's disease management system and Cone Health's electronic medical record system, etc.--------------------------------------------------Prepares disability, FMLA, etc. paperwork for patients. Uses the department's disease management system and Cone Health's electronic medical record system, etc.--------------------------------------------------
Qualifications
EDUCATION:Required
High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred
Associates or Bachelors EXPERIENCE:Required
Previous clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical business office. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred
Minimum three years of previously related experience preferred in a hospital, clinic, or medical business office. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
