Job Description and Duties

Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Under general direction of the Financial Accountant III, the appointee works as a team member in BFST representing the State Accounting and Reporting Division (SARD) for purposes of implementing its statutory control agency functions within the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal). The incumbent actively participates in numerous Project activities with the State Controller's Office FI$Cal Functional Service Office team members, Project staff, Partner Agencies and state departments. In addition, the incumbent acts as a liaison between SARD home staff and FI$Cal, communicating Project status, identifying risks and issues, reviewing decision and design documents, develop and providing training, and completing Project tasks.

Desirable Qualifications

  • The Financial Accountant II should have Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

  • Tax Accounting: Knowledge of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Franchise Tax Board (FTB) tax regulations and policies.

  • Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); governmental budgetary principles

  • Knowledge of the functions of financial systems and information technology.

  • Mathematical and analytical reasoning.

  • Ability to use technology in job performance.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to multi-task and willingness to learn new tasks.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
