Finance/Accounting Intern

The Corporate Internship at Niagara is unique in that interns work directly on high impact projects within one of our corporate departments. Interns will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where they will be asked to be a key part of our operations. During this 10-week internship, participants are encouraged to think outside the box and use a continuous improvement mindset to approach projects and come up with solutions. Interns will gain hands on experience in work related to their field of study.

Interns will work in one of the following departments:

  • IT (Infrastructure, Applications, and Help Desk)

  • Supply Chain

  • Sourcing/Procurement

  • Finance/Accounting

  • Marketing

  • Business Development

  • Corporate Manufacturing

  • Engineering Services

  • Packaging
  • R&D

  • Human Resources

  • Product Lifecycle Management

  • PLM

Detailed Description

  • Work cross-functionally to complete high impact projects

  • Learn about the manufacturing industry and order to cash process

  • Assist with research on new and existing projects

  • Gain exposure to newest technology and software

  • Receive intellectual and creative opportunities to tackle a problem and develop your own proposed solution

  • Support major decision making

  • Attend department meetings and action plan based on feedback

  • Learn to collaborate and communicate across all levels of the organization

  • Create a presentation on your internship experience, projects, and outcomes and present to department leadership

A few useful links are also listed below: Approach to Public Service (Core Values for City of Ontario employees) (Information about City of Ontario employee benefit plans) The Ontario Plan (The City's Comprehensive Business Plan for Development) Examples of Essential Functions The essential functions typically performed by the by the Administrative Intern assigned to the Administrative Services Agency include the following: * Assists in developing and producing communication materials in a wide variety of media including brochure, flyers, ads, articles, posters, newsletters, displays, photos, and signage to increase awareness of and participation in agency programs and services. * Identifies and recommends ideas on promoting agency programs, events, and services. * Assists with developing, agency wide marketing, promotional and public relations plans designed to promote the mission, vision and goals of the agency and departments. * Assists with writing, editing, designing, producing and distributing various pieces of publicity, press releases, videos, or other media for use in print, online, social media, email, direct mail, and other mediums. * Assists with content development for agency websites and 16 social media pages to ensure relevant, accurate and timely communication is posted. Additionally, support in best practices for City's social media standards and project storyboarding. * Assists with photo editing including retouching and correction, compositing, virtual imaging, etc. * Identify, catalog and archive pertinent documents, media files, newspaper clippings and photos * Performs related duties and responsibilities as required. Qualification Guidelines Education Equivalent to completion of two years of college with major course work in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field. License Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment are required. Current enrollment in upper division courses of a bachelor's degree program in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public or Business Administration or a related field.
