BIA Overview:
BIA aims to provide independent, reliable, valued, insightful and timely assurance to the Board and executive management over the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control over current and evolving risks, in the context of the current and expected business environment and in accordance with the international standards definition of internal auditing.

What will you be doing?

Work collaboratively with others across BIA, while developing strong client relationships which are independent and be seen as a respected voice. Support delivery of BIA Audit Plan.

  • Execute Treasury audit plan, perform design effectiveness and operating effectiveness audit testing and complete workpaper documentation

  • Apply agile methodology and data analytics in audit and audit projects

  • Identify, assess & document risks and controls.

  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls & document this understanding in the BIA audit toolkit.

What we're looking for:

  • BS in Finance or Accounting.
  • 4 years' experience in Internal Audit (covering Treasury), Treasury business or Control Functions within banking or financial services.
  • 4 years' experience in auditing or one or more of the following Treasury areas: Funding, Liquidity, Capital, Asset Liability Management.
  • 4 years' technical knowledge and application of the US regulations in Treasury, Liquidity and/or Capital Management.

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Financial services industry knowledge.

  • Knowledge about new and emerging financial products, services and regulations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels.

  • Experience with Data analytics is a plus.

  • Proven track record of high performance in previous roles.

Department Profile Internal Audit is responsible for validating whether the firm operates in a controlled environment with appropriate risk-management processes. Auditors evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the firm's internal controls using a risk-based methodology developed from professional auditing standards. Internal Audit assists in monitoring the firm's compliance with internal guidelines set for risk management and risk monitoring, as well as external rules and regulations governing the industry. The team reports directly to the Board Audit Committee and helps verify whether the firm meets all of its fiduciary responsibilities to shareholders, while adhering to corporate-governance standards and legal and regulatory requirements. Internal Audit is comprised of Business, Risk and Technology auditors. Business and Risk auditors focus on understanding the risks that the businesses face and the controls to mitigate those risks. Technology auditors focus on the application controls supporting the business processes, including systems development, application security and entitlements, production management, and technology governance. Both groups are responsible for understanding, analyzing and testing the controls to protect the franchise. Primary Responsibilities Morgan Stanley is seeking an experienced auditor for its Finance Internal Audit Department. The role includes auditing and maintaining client relationships within the Firm's Finance organization including Financial and Regulatory Controllers, Accounting Standards and Control, Financial Planning & Strategy, Corporate Taxation, Accounts Payable and Expense Management, and Valuation Control. More specifically: * Identify and perform assessments of significant risks impacting the Finance control environment * Identify processes and risks to be covered as part of annual audit plan * Develop and maintain client relationships for continuous monitoring discussions * Actively manage all phases of an audit from planning through to reporting * Prepare audit plan and testing procedures to assess the designated control environment, and clearly document results in line with internal documentation standards * Actively train and coach audit staff daily on audit practice methodology * Identify, document, and communicate audit issues with Senior Management * Prepare and review weekly budgets to ensure appropriate forecasts for direct reports and audit staff members * Draft audit reports and communicate results to both Senior IAD Management and Client Stakeholders Required Skills and Experience * Eight to twelve years of professional experience in audit-related roles * Strong technical understanding of the internal audit processes (e.g., risk assessments, planning, testing, reporting and continuous monitoring) * Solid technical knowledge of accounting standards and experience in researching U.S. GAAP as well as Regulatory Standards * Demonstrated ability to multi-task between several projects and complete audits/projects within required time frames and budgets * Ability to manage global audit staff both on and off-shore through day-to-day tasks * Detailed knowledge of financial statement processes and accounting requirements * Strong experiences with people management and coaching skills * Keen attention to detail and demonstrated strong analytical skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills Preferred Skills and Experience * CPA or equivalent license, highly preferred * Accounting and auditing background with a prior audit function or public accounting firm (preferably in the Financial Services sector) * Experience with regulatory reporting policies and regulations including regulatory reporting forms and instructions (e.g. FR Y-9C, FR Y-14M/Q/A) * Experience with U.S. Taxation and Tax Reform policies * Experience with capital markets and/or securities industry regulations Morgan Stanley New York NY
