Job Description

Purpose

The Finance Lead assists the R&D Financial Reporting function in all monthly close activities, organizational performance reporting, corporate reporting of monthly actuals per GAAP, and analyses vs. benchmarks. Scope includes global R&D P&L and global balance sheet responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for actuals R&D management reporting through consolidation, summarization, and presentation of global R&D performance vs applicable benchmarks. Operate independently to prepare relevant variance analysis for each month-end close cycle and develop meaningful management reporting schedules for direct areas supported.

  • Lead the preparation process of annual Tax reporting requirements related to US income tax, R&D Tax Credit, Orphan Drug Tax Credit, and other tax reporting requirements. Collaborate with multiple R&D teams to complete the submissions and seek to enhance the preparation processes.

  • Partner with the R&D Financial Directors and their functional teams on reporting matters, Workiva reporting enhancements and guidance, BPC data investigations and support, and month-end close management data issues.

  • Works directly with Finance Shared Service contacts on monthly close processes to ensure complete, accurate, and timely monthly actual results, including arising issues, journal entry status, and open/pending items. Understand monthly results and communicate issues vs. benchmark to functional partners to drive resolution or action plans.

  • Provides management with clear insights into drivers of business and financial performance and risk; assesses business/market opportunities and informs/recommends prioritization decisions.

  • Assist in the preparation of various government and external organizational surveys completed throughout the year.

  • Lead or assist with ad hoc analysis requests, projects, and process improvements as needed.

  • Staff Development - Responsible for guiding and developing one direct staff to ensure an optimal level of support. Assist in developing high performing staff, including an emphasis on career growth opportunities, and actively work to maintain the excellent culture in R&D Finance.

Qualifications

Qualifications

List required and preferred qualifications (up to 10). Include education, skills and experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA or MBA a plus.

  • Minimum 6+ years of progressive and related experience.

  • Strong financial, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Proficient Excel skills required.

  • Knowledge of SAP, BPC, and Workiva a plus.
