Summary: The Finance Manager provides financial reporting and analysis of monthly, quarterly and yearly operating results. This is a highly visible position that interacts directly with Senior Management, key operational leaders within the division and corporate FP&A. The position requires the ability and drive to lead and provide high quality, accurate deliverables within tight timeframes. The role also has the potential to be involved in new strategic business engagements, including M&A activities.
Essential Duties:
Proactively supports and builds successful business partnerships between divisional leaders and Finance
Reviews monthly results. Interacts with accounting managers to record necessary adjustments. Explains variances between actual and budget, and prepares monthly divisional reporting for EVP and FP&A
Leads monthly financial meetings with Operations personnel. Prepares all analysis ahead of meetings to facilitate meaningful dialogue
Provides financial analysis as required, including Excel modelling of various scenarios to identify optimal margins and returns
Prepares all AFEs for capex purchases and drafts economic justification when necessary. Maintains capex tracker
Prepares annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts within the division. Explains variances and prepares deliverables to Senior Divisional leadership and Corporate FP&A
Prepares rate quotes and proposals when necessary for new business opportunities, articulates expected margins and provides feedback on any alternatives
Updates all customer contracts for annual rate increases. Works with Operations and Commercial to prepare updated rates
Reviews changes to various Port Authority agreements, and provides financial analysis for multiple scenarios
Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Certifications):
BS / BA degree in finance; MBA preferred but not required.
Minimum 5-7 years of overall finance or FP&A experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have strong financial acumen and systems skills.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Solid experience in Excel, PowerPoint and Word programs, strong presentation skills required.
Possess the ability to partner with people at all levels of the organization.
Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
Proven track record of improving and sustaining sound business processes in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment.
Detail oriented, highly motivated individual that likes to be challenged.
Ability to build and lead effective teams with strong orientation toward driving results in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
Working Conditions:
Travel to port operations as needed (10%-20%).
Office environment with potential for extended hours during reporting periods (typically month, quarter and year end).
Physical activity typical of an office environment.
