Job Description:

This role is responsible for performing functions to provide financial analysis, forecasting, planning, process controls, and profit and loss reporting for the Business Unit (BU). Further, this role could be assigned special projects at times from the Electric Clutches & Brakes (ECB) management team.

Responsible for accurately collecting, analyzing, and interpreting current financial and operational data and presenting the data in a relevant manner consistent with generally accepted accounting principles; developing systems of financial control to ensure proper operational execution of BU and company policies and procedures; coordination and integration of interdepartmental programs and operations to assure conformance to the overall BU operating plan, corporate objectives and compliance with SOX; and the initiation, planning, direction and control of plant financial programs. Endeavors to meet policy deployment objectives by performing the duties as stated below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensures the BU compliance with Company accounting policies, practices, procedures, and initiatives in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and SOX.

  • Reviews actual performance against the operational plans for the VS in the BU based on strategic and operational objectives, including manpower, facilities and equipment, material resources, capital requirements, inventory levels, expense budgets, sales and earnings, return on investment; and supplies reliable and relevant information to management as a basis for decision making.

  • Prepares, analyzes, and reviews weekly financial statements and all statistical and operational metrics and reports; and assists management in determining effective operational controls.

  • Attends weekly meetings and assists the team in preparing weekly reporting.

  • Participates in Altra Business System (ABS) activities and helps guide and direct continuous improvement in all areas of the Value Stream.

  • Support and conduct, costing, reconciliation of all physical inventories, and other inventory input and output transactions to assure accuracy of perpetual inventory records.

  • Administers and coordinates year-end financial audits and interim operational audits with Company's external and internal auditors.

  • Establishes and maintains a budget function and establishes controls to ensure proper analysis and reporting of budgets.

  • Prepares any reports required by regulatory agencies, i.e. property tax, manufacturing surveys etc.

  • Coordinates the month-end and year-end closing process with Shared Service accounting.

  • Performs monthly balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations submitted for Division Controller and audit review.

  • Performs a monthly budget versus actual analysis.

  • Prepares monthly reports needed for BU Review calls.

  • Prepares monthly out-of-scope journal entries.

  • Monitors delinquent A/R and works with CSR to process unresolved customer deduction.

  • Prepares quarterly close templates related to Warranty, E&O Reserve requirements, Restructuring Accruals, Capital Variances, & Revenue Recognition. In addition, reviews & approves the AR Reserve and Sales Return templates prepared by Shared Service.

  • Maintains schedule of leases within the Value Stream.
