POSITION OVERVIEW

The Finance Intern will assist in the administration of the financial/business functions within Mass. Bay Brewing Company, Inc. (MBBC) by performing tasks with work priorities and general instructions provided by the Finance team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customer activities, specifically related to billing and customer collections

  • Vendor activities, specifically related to purchasing and cash disbursements

  • Researching and answering customer/vendor inquiries

  • Assisting the Finance department with proper general ledger coding, document processing, and other accounting-related activities

  • Conducting day-to-day financial transactions such as invoicing, payments, banking, and other transactions

  • Managing and maintaining accurate and timely procedures related to the input of transactions into the companys accounting system

  • Other administrative duties supporting operations as they relate to the Finance department

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Current student in an accredited college/university working towards a degree preferably in accounting, finance, or similar field

  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and the following Microsoft products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Explorer

  • Ability to create oral presentations and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during work/business

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to meet a variety of deadlines and prioritize workload

  • Self-starter with strong initiative

  • Team player and community advocate

  • Craft beer enthusiast

The job of the Finance Intern is to support the organization while learning about a career in finance. Finance interns gain practical experience in the constantly-growing field of finance. Regular duties and responsibilities include helping perform research, preparing financial reports, assisting with reconciling accounts and Consolidation, and other duties, as needed. The Indigo Finance Internship will work predominantly with the Controller's group (GL Accounting) and Financial Reporting teams. LEARNING OUTCOMES * Finance interns will learn the monthly process of closing the books/finalizing the accounting * Finance interns will learn how to research and apply technical accounting to a transaction or process * Finance interns will understand and learn the requirements for financial reporting, including analytical description of business activities RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist in the monthly close through various projects including reconciliations, investigation of accounts and drafting of fluctuation comments * Assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures * Assist in minute documentation for Close meetings * Assist in Reporting on Month end Close key performance indicators (KPIs) * Work with Master Data Management to assist in finalization and cleanup of inventory SKUs * Assist in the monthly consolidation and management reporting process * Assist in Research and Analysis of ASC 842 for new lease adoption * Assist in reporting and analyzing quarterly financial data and results COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS * Strong communications skills – strong verbal and written communication skills that support the ability to interact professionally both internally and externally with people at multiple levels of an organization to advocate for projects and achieve favorable results * Collaborative – ability to work with people from multiple internal departments to drive performance * Strong analytical skills * Strong excel skills * Ability to work under deadlines * Self-motivated – ability to take initiative on recurring projects with little to no direction WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH * Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) * Global Controller * US Controller * Revenue Manager * Senior Director of Technical Accounting * Director of Financial Reporting Indigo Boston MA
