This position will work directly with the ES Director Contracts and Administrative Support to assist with the month-end close and new system implementation.

  • Participate in month-end close calls

  • Utilize PeopleSoft to assist with month-end close analysis

  • Assist with month-end variance analysis

  • Assist with Oracle Implementation project, which would include testing and validation of converted data

  • Assist with creating new monthly financial reports

Required Skills

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Attend a 4 year accredited university/college- Finance and Accounting Major

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale

  • College Sophomore or College Junior at the time of application

  • Proficient in use of MS Office Suite especially MS Excel

Nature & Scope/Principal Areas of Responsibility: * Provides legal services for the Utility Operations segment of SUEZ North America under the supervision of the General Counsel. Provides ongoing legal advice and representation in a wide variety of areas involved in the Company's ongoing operations, including the following: contract review and negotiations, regulatory, real estate, permitting, environmental, water supply and allocation, water quality and corporate transactional matters. * Serve as the leader and supervisor of the Legal Department's Utility Operations professional service team with direct reporting and responsibility to the General Counsel on personnel matters, resource prioritization, and service level standards. * Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts for matters relating to the construction of major facilities, the provision of various services to the Company's utility subsidiaries, and wholesale water and wastewater agreements. Negotiate favorable legal terms in contracts, with a goal to protecting the Company's financial interests. Provide advice to Company personnel regarding rights and responsibilities under contracts and assistance in enforcement of contract rights. * Monitor select regulations, circulate relevant proposals to various departments for comment, draft and file comments with subject agencies where necessary, and inform personnel of relevant rule adoptions. Upon request of Company management, provide advice on the legal implications of proposed and newly enacted legislation affecting the Company's regulated utility business. * Provide legal services to support Utility acquisitions and divestitures, including agreement review and negotiation, participation in due diligence, preparation of memoranda outlining legal risks, and preparation and review of documents required for closing. * Provide legal services to support administrative proceedings relating to environmental matters and water and wastewater permits, including filing comments with environmental and municipal agencies concerning proposed activities by third parties that may affect the Company's operations. * Respond to inquiries from internal management. Contribute to management decision-making by providing research, legal memoranda, counsel and advice on legal matters. * Keep the General Counsel informed of complex, sensitive and/or material matters and seeks her counsel on matters requiring attention. * Maintain professional standards and expertise throughout membership in bar associations, review of legal publications and attendance at relevant CLE seminars. * Travel up to 40% (mainly local travel). Required Skills Required Skills: * Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, precise analytical skills and the ability to work independently. * Advanced capabilities with Microsoft Word and other Office Suite programs, software applications used in legal work, and strong legal research skills. * Flexible in performing a wide variety of legal work while being mindful of business objectives and Company impact. * Ability to contribute to the Legal Department as a team player. Required Experience Education/Equivalent: * Law degree from a U.S. accredited law school. * Admitted to practice in New Jersey or New York, preferably both. Will consider other bar admissions if NJ limited license for in-house is obtained.
