Position Purpose

Acting on own initiative, oversees, directs, and manages the activities and staff involved in financial engagement of the marketing and sales operations functions, ensuring sound business management and accurate data reporting in alignment with the company's goals and strategic objectives. Working closely with the EVP Marketing and VPs Marketing, manages the strategic and annual planning cycle for our brands, including coordinating forecasts and risk/opportunity analysis. Leads a comprehensive monthly business review process with Marketing leadership, including Agency partners. With the VP Sales Operations and VP Brand Marketing, supports new product launches, inventory management, and pricing strategy. Oversees sales reporting, ensuring the accuracy of our sales data and managing the sharing of that information with our sales teams, as well as distributor and agency partners. Supports and mentors direct reports and extended team, including other managers and analysts, to meet the business above as well as overall company needs.

  • Communicates and supports Company policies and decisions in a positive manner

  • Develops staffing needs, selects new employees, makes recommendations in job evaluation and compensation, and recommends termination actions

  • Conducts team meetings with department employees; includes monthly safety topic, ISO, DOE and other applicable training

  • Handles employee issues, concerns, and complaints in an objective and confidential manner

  • Provides employees with a safe, comfortable, and rewarding work environment

  • Prepares and monitors department overhead budget

Essential Duties

  • Acts as key thought partner and business advisor to marketing leaders including EVP and VPs of Marketing, Brand Directors, and Brand Managers, in day-to-day business management, profit or market share opportunities, and ongoing risk and opportunity for our owned and agency brands.

  • Manages the strategic planning and annual planning process with marketing, including supporting analysis of projected volumes, revenue initiatives, and expense management, and works cross-functionally to support sales alignment to initiatives, including support with Agency partners as needed.

  • Trains and coaches Marketing and Commercial Finance personnel on business principles, financial management, pricing management and sound business management. Reinforces key concepts of the company's strategy and ensures business managers under the potential risks and opportunities to performance and budget variances.

  • Leads or supports key processes for Sales Operations, including supporting new product launches and end-of-product-life transitions, inventory management for brand and agency partners, Joint Business Planning, distributor performance scorecarding, and management of corporate sales incentives.

  • Leads sales reporting initiatives to ensure accurate and actionable data is accessible by our Sales teams, and shared responsibly with other agency and business partners to drive alignment with Delicato goals and initiatives.

  • Manages the Pricing department to ensure financial integrity of brand pricing strategies and sales alignment to brand guidance, as well as evaluate potential changes/adjustments to strategy.

  • Oversees month-end close and selling expense accrual process for Marketing, requiring monthly collaboration with marketing management, and oversees publication of standard executive reporting for the Marketing EVP.

  • Reviews and approves promotional spending proposals (spend requests) for National Accounts, and supports evaluation of spends for Marketing/Trade Marketing, to ensure effectiveness of spend and consistency with company objectives, including coupons, incentives and other promotional activities. Conducts post-promotion analysis to determine effectiveness of promotional programs.

  • Investigates and corrects anomalies or inaccuracies in financial data or results. Facilitates ad hoc analysis as necessary.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Manages others to support marketing and agency partners in pricing, planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and ad hoc analysis.

  • Maintains relationships and acts as a financial partner with brand managers, VPs and EVPs.

  • Maintains relationships with various other functional management teams to ensure quality deliverables and information flow, including Sales, FP&A, Supply Chain, Business Performance Management, Accounting, and HR.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or similar discipline. MBA a plus. 7-10 years of experience in finance and accounting management, including seniors roles in financial planning or commercial finance support. Prior experience in wine or beverage alcohol business a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Familiarity with sales and marketing programs, the three-tier distribution network, and shipment, depletion and scan data reporting and analysis. Expert computer skills are required, with ability to report and analyze multi-dimensional data and complex information. Must exhibit excellent communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
