Finance Analyst III (Hybrid, Buffalo NY)

This position is a hybrid working model: 3 days in office in Buffalo, NY.

Overview:

The analyst will be responsible for performing activities related to the Department's Data Governance Testing and Monitoring program, ensuring the quality of data being reported and adherence to internal controls. The analyst will have an opportunity to work across many areas of the Company and its operations, with some direct exposure to senior leadership.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participate in and execute on the transaction testing program, assesses and validates the accuracy of reported transactions by comparing origination documents to report values and ensures overall conformance to the reporting instructions/requirements.

• Specific responsibilities related to this includes understanding and interpreting Fed instructions and FAQ documents for purposes of confirming that the sourcing and transformations of reporting elements are reasonable/appropriate according to the instructions. This is accomplished through:

• 1. sampling reportable data by leveraging risk-based profiling rules and material transactions.

  3. source document retrieval and transaction testing

  4. concluding on whether sourcing of reporting elements are reasonable/appropriate according to the Fed's instructions
  
  

• Monitor new guidance/ instructions issued by the Fed and assess impact to previous and current testing.

• Tracking and following up on data issues identified through testing till remediation/completion.

• May be required to make presentations to immediate managers or peers on subject matters in which they have expertise.

• Provide cross training/support to team members.

• Participate in training and development opportunities across Finance and among supported businesses.

• Understand and adhere to department timelines and deliverables.

• Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

May train junior staff

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years' experience OR Associate's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting auditing, operations or financial institutions

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $71,985.72 - $119,976.20 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
