Description

As an Advanced Machine Operator, the Filler Operator is responsible for operating multiple machine systems and for obtaining/maintaining a State of California Filler Operator's license. The Filler Operator is required to operate equipment in accordance with manufacture's standards, the quality and SOP standards of CNP and in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Additionally, they are responsible for the quality of produced product and must be active in the operational maintenance of the system. This is a highly technical role that requires a high degree of problem solving. The filler operator position is responsible for the operational leadership of the filling line.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Must operate equipment to OSHA, Manufacturer and CNP safety standards.

  • Operate the Filling Machine / Wine System in compliance with operational standards.

  • Gain and maintain current the technical knowledge required to consistently operate Filling Machines / Wine System at acceptable operational levels and standards.

  • Wine System knowledge and operation including all Safety and Quality requirements in the Offloading, documentation, testing, Transfer and CIP of wine offloading equipment and Silos.

  • Demonstrate DE (Distribution Equipment) skills and operating knowledge of laser, accumulators, cappers, case packers, diagraph, & conveying systems.

  • Effective use of OM (Operating Manuals) daily.

  • Lead the line pair to achieve optimal safety, quality, LU/LE, and minimize waste.

  • Adhere to materials FIFO (First In

  • First Out) returning product correctly and timely.
  • Conduct package integrity during production according to quality inspection process and take necessary corrective action.

  • Carry out assigned AM standards on fillers and coordinate successful AM of entire line pair DE.

  • Train other operators in all proper procedures and best practices so they become proficient.

  • Fill/out and maintain real time state machine logs and all CNP documentation to include stops and reason in PLC and written formats. Must be able to read and must write legibly.

  • Use data collected to analyze and drive machine/quality continuous improvement actions.

  • Conduct production as scheduled and in compliance with CNP work orders to assure that product, codes and material are matched.

  • Manage a variety of critical tasks in a sequence that maintains production.

  • Communicate effectively information required to carry out job and necessary interaction with team members, management, and customers.

  • Anticipate needs and accelerate process of rectifying quality and downtime issues for the line pair and DE equipment.

  • Filler operator must maintain a clean and neat environment surrounding their area and DE lines. Effectively implement 5S process throughout their line pair.

  • Must be able to effectively perform basic math skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret MSDS sheets.

  • Adhere to GMP's and CNP food safety standards. Must work in a manner supporting of CNP policies, procedures, values, and behaviors.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Leadership Responsibilities (Tech Level 3):

  • Deliver results to target

  • Know, adhere to and ensure the team adheres to all quality processes.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of food safety and GMP processes through compliant Behavior and coaches team mates as needed.

  • Will Support, coach and facilitate the development of all direct reports from Aseptic Leadership to grow technical, interpersonal and professional skills with trainees

  • Demonstrate technical depth and troubleshooting skills that enable leading a team to identify root causes and possible solutions to technical and personnel issues

  • Provide clear direction regarding AMs, documentation, etc.

  • Coordinate all activities of planned downtime, unplanned downtime, GMP standards etc.

  • Must be able to facilitate team training objectives when applicable

  • Coordinate safety activities per company safety policy i.e. safety meetings, safety representatives, etc.

  • Coordinate executing all established processes i.e. outage resolution, AM's, documentation, clean up, etc.

  • Serves as a communication link to management for things such as schedule changes, policy changes, line efficiency, current quality, morale issues, etc.

  • Effectively and accurately communicate information to the oncoming teams

  • Insure the work areas of responsibility are left clean and stocked as per established standards

  • Assist with and develop machine/quality improvement actions.

  • Assure appropriate documentation is completed.

  • Insure when leading AM or cleaning events are completed on time.

  • Optimize equipment to meet business needs/objectives.

  • The timely coordination of all raw materials needed by the filler. Works closely with Product Supply to ensure the proper tracking of all materials consumed.

  • Ensure that commercial sterility conditions are maintained.

  • Collaborate with Maintenance department to ensure that all equipment is operating and maintained.

  • Maintain compliance with established SOP and new SOP development where necessary.

  • Seize opportunities to improve results.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Holds oneself to high standards and conducts oneself in a manner that provides a good example for others to follow.

Equipment Used/Operated:

  • Filling machines and DE equipment

  • Quality tools and measuring instruments for package and product quality

  • Computer and equipment interfaces

  • Basic hand tools and maintenance tools

  • Bailing machines

  • Powered industrial trucks (sit-down rider, turret truck, power pallet jack) and other material handling equipment.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • General mechanical skills a plus

  • Food Industry knowledge helpful

  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions

Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Must possess oral, written, and listening skills necessary to communicate with team members, management, and customers

  • Ability to conduct team meetings or topic daily

Physical Activity:

  • Regularly stand, walk about, reach overhead, lift/carry 25 lbs.

  • Frequently climb.

  • Occasionally squat, bend, kneel, and sit.

Additional Compensation

  • Bonus Potential: You will be eligible to participate in the Gehl Food & Beverage Bonus Program for non-exempt employees. Under this Program, quarterly and annual bonus payouts are based on achievement of targeted production numbers. Gehl Foods, LLC reserves the right to change the Bonus Program at anytime, without notice.

Working Conditions: Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
