TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking to fill four (4) full-time Field Technician positions in our Richmond, VA location. Although these positions will be based in Richmond; maintenance, installation, and repair of electronic toll collection equipment may occur at various times and locations throughout Virginia and North Carolina. The candidates selected must have the ability to travel for extended periods of time to perform the duties of this position and to support projects.

Job Summary:
The position will perform on-site servicing, maintenance, repair and/or installation of electronic toll collection equipment. This job may include any aspect of field support including: troubleshooting and repair of electronic equipment, systems, and wiring; installation of equipment; upgrades, modifications, programming; preventive maintenance actions; documentation; warehouse coordination and inventory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Installation, preventive and corrective maintenance of toll collection equipment to include computers, video surveillance equipment, RFID, network communications equipment, electro-mechanical equipment and components, and/or radio equipment.

  • Completes reports, logs and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures and local practices.

  • Responds to corrective maintenance requests or alarms within an acceptable time frame.

  • Diagnoses and repairs hardware, software, and system issues.

  • Reports technical status of system with accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintenance of spare equipment and parts including inventory management.

  • Module or PC Board swap out.

  • Isolation of faults in units or components.

  • Field test of units or components.

  • Electronic filing of work orders.

  • Assists with the training of less experienced technicians.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in electronics, engineering or a combination of education, training, and work experience preferred.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant working experience in electronics maintenance.

  • Travel for extended period of times during installation projects.

  • Have familiarity with the use of laptop computers for use in field equipment calibration and basic web and email applications

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license in good standing as verified by TransCore.

  • Driving record must be free of DUI/DWI for three-year period prior to employment.

  • Good writing, communication, mechanical skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Some experience working with Linux preferred.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Prior toll maintenance and electronic bench repair experience.

  • Fiber optic splicing and testing, AVI tuning, and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)

Other Requirements:

  • Required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

  • Occasionally required to walk and climb or balance.

  • Regularly required to perform work at heights of no more than 25 feet.

  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and moving traffic.

  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.

  • Comfortable with confined space work.

As the Field Warehouse Coordinator, you perform a variety of inventory management, order picking, receiving, shipping and housekeeping tasks in accordance with defined job processes, with a focus on safety and quality in a 24-hour Logistics Center. Your position will primarily focus on Orthopedic loaner fulfillment operations. You will interact with a Warehouse Control System to perform assigned functions, as well as comprehend and demonstrate compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions. You will provide constructive input to enhance the work process/environment by making suggestions and implementing process changes in coordination with the Field Inventory Location team to ensure the achievement of Orthopedic Field Logistics objectives. Responsibilities: * Manage implant inventory including replenishments, National loaners, returns, and expired goods * Perform check-in and put-away process for Orthopedic products including: scanning inventory, completing inventory transfers, ordering replacement parts, and sorting mixed sets * Check-in instrument sets to ensure all required instruments are present in set and order replacement parts when necessary * Provide general support to the operations including the assembly of new instrument sets * Receive in loose finished goods inventory and put to stock or match with appropriate sets * Complete shipping functions to include: forwarding and issuing sets to customer, communicating incomplete set information to customer service, assembling packing lists, and completing shipping manifest * Communicate with other company departments regarding product dispositions and potential problems * Perform housekeeping duties as directed to maintain a safe, clean working environment * Take "On Call" duties on a rotating basis, providing 24-hr support if necessary for a seven day period * Execute all safety policies, rules and regulations, reporting all incidents/accidents/injuries immediately upon discovery to Supervisor/Safety Coordinator * Deliver and pickup devices in hospital/surgical center designated staging areas as needed * Operate all equipment in a safe, efficient manner following prescribed work methods, including but not limited to Hand-trucks, RFID scanners, inventory management software, simple hand tools for assembling warehouse equipment, box cutters, and PPE * Support and give input towards special projects as required by the Supervisor or Distribution Manager Qualifications * Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent degree required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred * Minimum (4) years of relevant work experience required * Experience in a high volume Logistics/Warehouse Operations environment preferred * Orthopedic loaner process/program or hospital sterile processing experience preferred * Proven ability to do simple math, count accurately, read and write legibly * Strong interpersonal, effective communication, and collaboration skills, with ability to contribute positively to the morale of the team * Demonstrated flexibility/sense of urgency, taking direction and accomplishing tasks quickly and efficiently without sacrificing quality * Demonstrated ability following policies, SOPs, regulations and legal requirements * Experience with AS400 or Optimize WCS (Warehouse Control System) preferred * Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) * 5S or Lean experience, training, or certification is helpful * Requires ability to perform repetitive physical requirements including: lifting up to 50lbs, constant standing/walking on concrete floors 95% of the time, and bending/twisting/squatting * Requires up to 5% domestic travel Johnson & Johnson is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
