Job Description

Cyient has an immediate opening for a Field Technician in our Telecommunications Business Unit. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Outside Plant (OSP) field data collection in North Central Texas, West Virginia, Connecticut and other areas as needed (based on your location). The candidate will visit multiple job locations daily and collect, record and analyze existing field conditions related to Telecom poles, Underground structures and Street/Right of Way measurements. The candidate will also learn to determine ideal locations & situations for above ground equipment and fiber optic cables and identify issues in the field that could impact network designs.

The tech savvy candidate will collect and submit data using various types of handheld electronic GIS equipment, as well as other hand held equipment. Work may involve walking one or more miles on a daily basis while collecting data. Training in the use of Cyient issued electronic equipment required to complete the work will be provided, the ideal candidate will already possess prior experience with GIS enabled data collection devices or other field equipment.

Job Requirements:

A Field Technician 2 will have between 2-4 years of working experience in the following areas:

  • Experience with utility construction in an outside plant environment.

  • Experience with reading, understanding and analyzing utility work prints, and the ability to identify, research and problem solve cable path/placement issues in the field and accurately relay solutions to the engineering team.

  • Experience with identifying ideal locations for future telecom equipment, including above-ground cabinets & pedestals, as well as utility boxes placed to grade and underground conduit systems.

  • Understanding and experience with Right-of-Way (ROW) and easement guidelines.

  • Experience with aerial, underground or buried telecom infrastructure components.

  • Experience and understanding of GO95, GO128 and NESC requirements.

  • Experience with O-Calc, SPIDA or other wind-loading software or equipment, as well as exposure and familiarity with other utilities' equipment present in field conditions.

  • Experience with coaching less experienced Field Technicians with daily tasks, data collection and safety procedures.

  • Ability to walk and work outdoors daily is required.

  • Valid driver's license, car insurance and reliable transportation required.

Skills & Experience

Distributor Networks, Fiber-Optic Communication, Outside Plant (OSP)-Designing, Superior communication skills while interacting with Utility, governmental agencies (city, county, state, and federal), consultants, and engineering firms.

The F135 Global Depot Repair network has expanded to include Flight Test locations at PAX NAS, Maryland and Edwards AFB, California as well as our Fort Worth Site in Texas. This position will have the responsibility for tactical engagement of Sustainment Depot production assets driven by requirements from the F135 CLS Depot Program Manager. This position will be primarily responsible for the tactical execution and prioritization for unscheduled engine/module inductions for limited Depot level repair for the three sites in Maryland, California and Texas. The responsibilities include and not limited to: * Provide tactical oversight of production and assist in workstop mitigation efforts for Sustainment assets assigned to Field Operations sites (PAX, EDW, and FTW) * Collaborate with Site Leads to ensure execution of program requirements and priorities are aligned * Drive production efficiencies and ensure all three sites are executing in a standardized manner within the F135 Depot Network * Focal point to provide depot maintenance performance data to F135 CLS Program Manager and F135 Mx Mgt * Deconflict shared resources with Flight Test operations and priorities to ensure uninterrupted production flow * Provide Quality oversight results to F135 CLS Program Manager and drive action / resolutions where needed * Communicate and escalate significant challenges/issues that need leadership intervention and assistance * Assist in capacity assessment for each site and develop long-term strategy to meet program goals * Package depot production performance data, assess and analyze and brief as required * Additional duty will include the CAM focal for Field Operations organization Education: * Bachelor's Degree in aerospace, engineering, or related technical field required.
