SUMMARY

The Field Technician performs commercial and residential installations, completes repairs, terminates service, and relocates existing equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs the installation of customer service drops or outlets in a manner that is courteous, professional, and in accordance with Cable One policy and procedures, along with specification compliance in the National Electrical Code (NEC)-Article 820, and in the applicable sections of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

  • Uses electronic test equipment and online diagnostic tools to troubleshoot customer service drops or outlets, diagnose and repair reception performance issues, and resolve all problems from the customer-owned equipment to the output of the first distribution amplifier.

  • Terminates cable, data and telephony services in a manner that is in compliance with Cable One policies and procedures.

  • Assures proper upstream and downstream signal levels at each termination on the customer's premises.

  • Relocates customer service drops or outlets in a manner that is in compliance with all Cable One policies and procedures.

  • Monitor and record incidences of system and drop leakage.

  • Performs after-hours network stand-by, troubleshooting and repair.

  • Operates and maintains vehicle, tools, test equipment and other company owned equipment in accordance with system guidelines and procedures.

  • Educates customers as to the proper operation of all services, equipment, and home terminal units (HTU's) and customer owned equipment.

  • Seeks the opportunity to initiate the sale of new cable services, or upgrades of existing services and additional outlets.

  • Collects payments and obtains appropriate customer acknowledgements in accordance with Cable One cash handling policies via electronic work order and routing system (WFM) and other methods as required.

Other duties and/or responsibilities not specifically set forth above may, however, be assigned as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Successful completion of the Field Technician training course at the Cable One Technical Training Center is required within 9 months of employment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to use RF, digital and Volt-Ohm meters and other related equipment to interpret data and use information to solve problems and determine optimal signal routing.

  • This position requires the ability to work a variable schedule.

  • This position will require occasional travel.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS The Oil and Gas Field Inspector job family has four levels that are distinguished by the complexity of assignments, the level of expertise required to perform the duties assigned, and the responsibility assigned for providing leadership to others. Level I: This is the basic level of the job family where employees are assigned responsibility for performing routine entry level work in a training status to build their skills in conducting inspections and investigations, responding to releases and complaints, and acting as a liaison between the Corporation Commission, the industry and the public. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Level I: Education and Experience requirements at this level are mandated by statute. 52 O.S. SS 149 (8) (1999 Supplement) states applicants "…shall have four (4) years practical experience in oil field production and drilling operations…".
