A Field Technical Safety Specialist performs worksite assessments to determine what kinds of risks and hazards exist and whether the site meets all regulatory compliance standards. Your other duties and responsibilities in this field include investigating occupational or worksite accidents or issues, writing reports based on your findings, and communicating with managers and employees about specific issues that need attention, such as unsafe work practices and failure to comply with health and safety standards. Some safety specialists also conduct training and safety education sessions for workers, such as how to properly use safety equipment or avoid accidents.
The Field Technical Safety Specialist participates in:
Plant Inspections to ensure compliance with NFPA 58 safety standards.
Support the CSCs with routine code interpretation and safety issues through phone, email, or site visits.
Conduct both industry and in-house technical training (CETP), which promotes the company's Safety beliefs & Principles and improves the quality and consistency of safety training, standards, and communications.
Conduct Annual ESV Testing and documentation.
Cathodic Protection Testing and training.
Perform Skills Assessments and Skills Assessment training.
75 percent travel is required as well as overnights and some air travel.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Working knowledge of NFPA 54 & 58 or related codes is required.
Working knowledge of daily job responsibilities at the CSC level including Tank installations, Vapor Distribution Systems, Leak Checks, Lockup & Flow Testing, and Bobtail Delivery Operations
Aptitude for computer systems, including experience in Microsoft Windows applications.
Aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching others and ability to speak on technical safety topics in a group setting.
Education and Experience Required
High School Diploma plus 10 years of experience working in the field at the CSC level.
Propane bulk plant work experience is preferred.
Must have propane field experience in service work and bobtail delivery.
Must have good communication skills.
Other industry or related training is desirable.
