NTT DATA Services currently seeks a Field Tech Analyst to join our team in Chicago, Illinois (US-IL), United States (US).

We are seeking a dynamic Biomedical Equipment Tech II to join the Operating Room Technical Support Group in the Clinical Engineering department at Rush University Medical Center! The desired candidate will have the ability to multitask effectively. This is a Full Time position 80 hours every two weeks, benefit-eligible Position Highlights: Under direction performs skilled work of average difficulty operating and daily maintenance of patient life support, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment. Also works very closely in the clinical field interfacing this equipment as it pertains to direct patient care. Also maintains a strong clinical bedside involvement in the use of patient life support, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Administrative * Is qualified and capable to perform all the duties and responsibilities of the Biomedical Equipment Technician I (See Biomedical Equipment Tech I Job Description) * Is familiar with the proper method (computerized equipment management system) of documenting all work orders performed on equipment either during a routine preventive maintenance check or equipment failure. * During daily rounds in the areas of responsibility the technician reviews the patient record to assure the proper documentation exists to support patient charges and directs nursing personnel to complete such documentation when it is not present. * Maintains records of each work assignment, PMI, and equipment interface. * Reads technical journals and literature related to the job field in order to keep him/herself abreast of the latest medical and test equipment available in both the market place and hospital. * Participates in organized education and training activities to expand and improve his/her knowledge and job performance. * Initiates requests for replacement parts and materials and is familiar with departmental policy as to the proper steps in facilitating the process to procure such items. * Performs any and all tasks within the positions capabilities as may be required to help meet overall Medical Center objectives. * Is required to be available for technical assistance and consultation on a rotating basis as determined by the Director of Clinical Engineering Services. * Follows Rush's operational and departmental policies and procedures. Reviews patient charts to identify vital sign parameters and service dates for billing purposes using "PHI minimum necessary" standards (see attached). Technical * Operates effectively all diversified types of lasers, cryosurgical units, vital sign monitoring equipment and performs calibrations for ECG, blood pressure, special monitoring procedures such as Swan-Ganz, pulmonary artery and left arterial pressures, and Intra-Aortic balloon pumping. * Makes daily rounds within each area of responsibility i.e. patient floors, operating rooms, and intensive care units to assure proper operation of all biomedical equipment and corrects any abnormalities. * Assists in training of clinical personnel in safe operation of equipment as instructed by the departmental supervisor or director. * Troubleshoots patient life support, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment at the bedside with direct interface in-vivo with the patient. * Possesses the knowledge of sterile technique and universal precautions. * Replaces standard electronic components and modules on all types of patient life support, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. * Inspects, removes, or replaces as necessary: patient electrode cables such as those used for ECG, external pacemakers, defibrillators, electrosurgical equipment, fetal ECG equipment, and blood pressure transducers. Coordinates repairs and/or replaces line cords and line connectors that are worn or damaged on all medical equipment. Also repairs simple series and parallel resistive circuits as found in equipment such as but not limited to lamps, blowers, and heaters. * Repairs electrical and mechanical equipment, including scopes and other devices. * Inspects and makes mechanical repairs, cleans, lubricates and adjusts parts and mechanisms on equipment. * Consults catalogs and manuals for proper parts needed to repair electrical/mechanical equipment. * Provides effective routine periodic inspections of equipment, preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment. * Makes scheduled inspections and safety tests necessary to maintain conformance to code requirements and documents this activity. * Develops a growth path through certification or education to a Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician position. * Accesses PHI for information gathering purposes during incident investigation only (OP&P # 175- Medical Device Incident reporting and tracking). Position Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications Knowledge * Possess knowledge of basic physiology and the ability to interface medical equipment to measure physiological changes along with a mature attitude to work directly with patients in all areas of the Medical Center and Corporate Affiliates. * Possess considerable knowledge of the practices and procedures, methods, tools, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of electrical/mechanical equipment must be demonstrated. * Possess a good working knowledge of electricity and mechanics entailed in the use of multi-meters and various testers involved in the performance of technical responsibilities. * Has a thorough understanding and knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with these pieces of equipment and testers, which is essential. * Skilled in the use of tools and materials involved in the repair of general equipment is necessary. * Has the ability to work independently in the preventive maintenance programs of equipment; ability to work from blueprints, drawings, and manufacturers handbooks is also required. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree with a focus in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred but not required) * Previous work experience in an OR setting preferred * Must have completed a two year course in electrical/mechanical equipment repair or operation or any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. * Must exhibit basic troubleshooting skills down to the modular or circuit level and have the necessary dexterity normally associated with electromechanical repair skills. * Must demonstrate the ability to work well with a variety of people including nurses, physicians, engineers, and biomedical equipment technicians. * Certification as a biomedical equipment technician by the International Certification Commission of Biomedical Technology should be a goal for future advancement and career development.
