Job Description Summary:

Field Engineers (FE) are responsible for performing implementation activities for DISA supporting networks and network infrastructure projects across the country. The FE will be traveling to CONUS and OCONUS sites in Europe and Southwest Asia.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Field Engineer / Site Installation Team (SIT)

  • SiteSurvey Support Activities
  • Includes participation in site surveys toproduce a distinct work package (for implementation actions) which outlinesthe specific tasks required, provides all the necessary engineering and supporting documentation (floor space diagrams, rack/equipment diagrams, network diagrams, connectivity tables, etc.), and provides all of the installation-specific equipment and materials to enable successful executionby field technicians. Work packages include the required Bill of Materials(BOM) to support implementation activities.
  • SitePreparation Activities
  • Includes the installation of equipment racks, the installation of power to racks, as necessary, and the installation ofcable ladder racks and patch panels.
  • Hardware/softwareinstallation and/or removal
  • Includes the physical installation of theequipment into a rack or cabinet, the installation of any necessarycomponent devices, the installation of all required power cabling, and theinstallation of all required network and interface cables to facilitate required interconnectivity.
  • Sitewiring implementation, inspection/testing, and removal.

  • Generation of completion reports to include as-installed documentation (Red Line drawings).

  • Circuit end-to-end activation coordination and cutover management for transition actions

  • Includes the installation of new circuits, therelocation/rehoming of existing circuits, and the decommissioning of circuits that are no longer needed.All necessary network device configuration changes, theinstallation of any network cabling, and the installation of anydistribution panel jumpers required to facilitate the successfulactivation of new circuits and the rehoming of existing circuits.
  • Siteimplementation testing and checkout.

  • Cardinstallations and replacement.

  • Hardware configuration upgrades

  • Includesthe installation of any necessary component devices, the installation ofall required power cabling, and the installation of all required networkand interface cables to facilitate the required interconnectivity. Activation actions include all equipment configurations and testing required to facilitate the acceptance of thedevices into the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) by Defense InformationSystems Agency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance

  • 2+ years of related telecommunications experience.

  • Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Electro Static Discharge (ESD) principles to safeguard static sensitive equipment.

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification

CompTIASecurity + CE or equivalent

The likely salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Travel ranges from 2 weeks to several months on site. Provides technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, and/or enhancement of company technical products, programs, and systems. On-site engineering technicians who utilize analytical and critical thinking to troubleshoot issues and problems with equipment or systems. Applies theories and write reports to outline issues and solutions. Perform site survey and implementation activities to support an Army VoIP implementation / TDM telephony decommissioning project. The work will be performed at military bases in the Continental United States. The candidate must have, and maintain, a SECRET clearance.
