Job Summary

SHI has an exciting job opportunity available in our Corp Advanced Solutions department as a Field Solutions Engineer. This individual will work as a technology generalist who will be customer facing and will uncover and develop opportunities. The Field Solutions engineer will take a consultative approach to data center, edge, core, cloud, security, and will understand how that technology enables business.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Data Center sales quota in supported territory

  • Pipeline management and ownership for Data Center opportunities

  • Account retention and penetrating multiple lines of Data Center business in existing accounts

  • Develop and execute strategy for top prospects

  • The Solutions Executive will interface with multiple layers of contacts within an organization, including but not limited to CIO, IT Directors, CTO, Application Managers, etc.

  • Responsible for driving the sales process of the solution, including identifying the opportunity, qualifying, forecasting, decision making criteria, and closing

  • Builds the region/territory based on strategic account planning done in collaboration with the account executive and extended team

  • Demonstrates leadership to ensure that the SHI's recommended enterprise solutions are comprehensive, achieve customer expectations and meet customer business needs and planning.

  • Builds deep relationships and trust with customers and owns the technical side of customer relationships.

  • Focused on delivering a world class customer experience according to SHI standards. .

  • Must develop relationships with Local Technology Community (MFG's and SI Partners), and the appropriate customer technical personnel to establish market credibility and ensure the sales team understands the customer's on-going enterprise needs.

  • Educate and develop sales teams on Data Center selling

  • Product training and positioning

  • Data Center sales cycle management

  • 1x1 and time with team ensuring value prop, resource usage, opportunity development and visibility to Data Center business (Corp / District / Rep)

  • Stay current on new technology, trends and market behavior

Qualifications

  • 2 years + Experience working in complex Data Center sales opportunities

  • 3-5 years Previous IT Administrator/Management experience desired

  • Previous experience supporting Enterprise, SLED and Higher Education organizations desired

  • Advanced knowledge of servers, storage, networking and virtualization regarding their impact on the business

  • Knowledge of Converged Infrastructure of servers, storage, networking and virtualization regarding their impact on the business

  • Ability and desire to work within a team environment, and at times independently

  • Proactive mindset. Sales mentality.

  • Highly organized individual

  • Deep Familiarity with the RFP process and possess a winning record

  • Experience with Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and High Availability Solutions (backup/recovery, mirroring, active/standby, active/active, clustering)

  • Strong knowledge of Virtualization technologies, Hypervisors, server and desktop virtualization (i.e. VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, VDI)

  • Expertise in mainstream storage technologies to include: Dell/EMC, NetApp, HPE, Pure Storage

  • Public and Private Cloud Solutions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively, add value as a team member and assume a leadership role for the team.

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills.

  • Strong documentation skills to include system/network diagrams and presentations (Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)

  • Ability to train and disseminate information within an Area or Operation.

  • Ability to understand complex technical and selling situations and the ability to solve the problem or solicit the required resources.

Your Career As a Palo Alto Networks Consulting Engineer, you will be the expert for a specific technology or solutions vertical within our offering. You are the "go-to" resource for customer interactions that exceed standard Systems Engineering support requirements (we always expect a baseline expertise in all areas from our SE's, but augment them with CE's in the advanced or new technology areas). The Consulting Engineering role is an overlay technical role that must directly support sales delivery of quota. CE's are measured by their expertise and by their ability to lead to customer successes. As the number of CE's in the company is small, there is also a requirement for close interaction with Product Management to ensure that we continue to out-innovate our competition. Your Impact ● Working with Product Management, Technical Marketing and R&D to create requirements and product features for our large customers and provide feedback from customers ● Provide design consultation and best practice guidance for rollout, implementation, and policy conversion during the 'pre sales' process for strategic opportunities ● Ownership of advanced 'proof of concept' testing in strategic accounts either at the customer site or Palo Alto Networks lab facilities ● Provide product update and enhancement training to other SEs in the region or theater ● Provide demos for strategic prospects and current accounts in all facets of Palo Alto Network's virtual offerings and integration in existing datacenter environments. Present to customers as our expert in your area at all levels in the customer hierarchy from technician to CIO ● Provide product update and enhancement training to other SEs in the region or theater. Assist in the training of new Palo Alto Networks SEs in their designated region in installs customer presentations, and internally-focused deal preparation activities. Provide advanced 'Partner SE' training for updates in the Palo Alto Networks product suite ● Provide territory coverage within the region when additional resources are required ● Lead conversations about industry trends and emerging changes to the security landscape that every customer needs to be aware of and planning to deal with ● Discuss, with credibility, competitive offers in the marketplace and positions ours as the best alternative ● Lead and support customer demonstrations (with our SE's) that showcase our unique value ● Interact locally and remotely with customers in an equally persuasive manner ● Assist in the enablement of Palo Alto Networks SEs in your specialty focus area Your Experience ● In-depth knowledge in the area of focus for this specific CE role, including knowledge of Cisco ACI, Nutanix, VMware, Linux KVM. – both from a technology and a business driver standpoint. Demonstrable experience securing these environments ● Strong understanding of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems and scripting. ● Demonstrable experience with systems installation, configuration and administration of routers/switches, UNIX/Linux and Windows-based systems (prior Active Directory/LDAP experience desirable) ● Experience that emphasizes L2-L4 Networking (L2 Switching architectures including Spanning Tree, IP routing including OSPF and BGP ,L4 Load balancing ) ● Experience working in the enterprise networking security space ● Experience installing and configuring a virtual environment.
