RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interact and communicate well with customers.

  • Exhibit professional appearance and conduct while providing a world-class customer experience.

  • Ensure on-time arrival to daily customer appointments.

  • Maintain and manage adequate inventory levels of product and equipment.

  • Install and service authorized equipment in customers' homes.

  • Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property and loss of materials and equipment.

  • Explain and provide detailed system capabilities and operational instructions to customers.

  • Promote and sell additional equipment and services to customers during each visit.

  • Clean installation debris in each home after all service and installation visits.

  • Accurately complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, customer contracts, and time clock punches.

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inventory of company products and equipment including company provided vehicles.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Current, valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Reliable, state registered, state inspected and state insured transportation for the first 90 days of employment.

  • Must participate in our Vivint Fleet Vehicle Program. With the option of using the Vivint fleet vehicle at the incurrence of a $0.40 per mile ($0.25 per km) personal use fee.

  • Submit to a criminal history check and obtain clearance from the state based on the state requirements.

  • Must remain smoke-free while on site with customers and while operating Vivint fleet vehicles.

  • Available to work the required shift that will be presented to you prior to being hired (could include evenings and weekend hours).

  • Stay standing for extended periods of time.

  • Be able to lift up to 31 lbs. at one time and carry from one place to another.

  • Be able to safely maneuver through shallow attics and crawl underneath homes.

  • Must have basic knowledge of and ability to operate hand and power tools.

  • Experience as a construction worker, electrician, or other technician may be helpful.

  • Superior customer service skills

  • Self-motivated

  • High School diploma required

  • Excellent organizational/time management skills

  • Experience working with minimal supervision

  • Technical diploma, Certificate of Completion, Military experience is a plus

  • Bilingual skills is a plus

This is an exciting opportunity in Knoxville, TN for a Power Generation Field Service Technician. Cummins North America is where you can work on industry leading engine technology such as High-horsepower GenSets, Integrated Power Systems, and PowerCommand panels in the Commercial Industrial, Data Center, and Prime Power markets while working in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. An Extraordinary Cummins Technician… Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to generators and components at the customer's site. Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner. Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Completes training in line with skill and business requirements Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor Skills Ability to carry out full diagnostics using Cummins diagnostic tools on different product types without supervision In depth electrical repair and maintenance capability to carry out external engine repairs including fuel system components without supervision Ability to develop and maintain productive customer relationships and educating customers on operations and maintenance of products Able to fully use all required Cummins service tools including Insite, EDS, Quick Serve On Line, INPOWER, LONMGMAKER Familiar with basic warranty/policy terms Capable of developing collaborative working relationships Able to identify opportunities for work process improvements Can resolve common technical problems Education, Licenses, Certifications Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Current relevant electrical certification Locally valid driving permit Experience Basic level field service work experience Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience Customer service experience Compensation and Benefits: Compensation: Base salary commensurate with experience.
