Provide installation, training & support services to Navy Customers for Progeny applications fielded onboard submarines, carriers, and at shore facilities. Become proficient in use and employment of applications. Provide Help Desk services to respond to and resolve application operational issues and track them for feedback to development team for correction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivery and implementation of Progeny Systems software application for U.S. Navy vessels.

  • Provide shipboard training to Users and Administrators.

  • Support Integration and testing efforts of Web based applications.

  • Provide System and Software troubleshooting and Fleet Support for U.S. Navy vessels.

  • Integration of Commercial, Government and Progeny-developed software into our suite of applications.

  • Development of software integration scripts when applicable to resolve operational issues.

  • Travel: ~ 20% - 40%.

  • Physical Requirements:
    Climb vertical ladders and the ability to maneuver on and around boats 75%-90%

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Microsoft Windows Server Administration a plus.

  • Oracle Database operation and maintenance a plus.

  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills as well as practical problem-solving and decision making-skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and be able to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously.

  • Load and update software applications as required.

  • Operation in an Information Technology Customer support capacity.

EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING DESIRED:

  • ORACLE, VMware, MSSQL, Windows 2000/3 Server.

  • Experience with VBScript, JavaScript, Windows Scripting, WBEM, .NET, JBOSS a plus.

For all candidates: Navy experience a plus. Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Work Environment: Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa is located in a harsh environmental setting with adverse weather conditions for many months of the year (excessive heat, humidity, and rain) and working in areas populated by poisonous snakes, plants, and/or insects, and contagious diseases and poor air quality, chemical handling areas, and damp and unheated spaces. The work may require extensive work shifts of 12-16 hours a day and more than a 5 day workweek. Generally, indoor work location has power, water, heating and air conditioning, although outages should be expected. The incumbent will be required to live on the camp, where living quarters are a container living unit (CLU), which may be very cramped with the requirement to share bathroom facilities. Initial living quarters may be a tent. Fatigue may occur from long work hours and uncomfortable living conditions. The position may be required to provide immediate contingency support requiring a physical and immunizations deemed necessary for the environment in which this support is provided.
