Position Purpose:
This position supports the aftermarket services group by providing on-site service to customers through hands-on technical assistance, telephone support, factory training support and liaison from customer to the factory, specifically responsible for servicing energy storage inverters and SCRs California and Pacific Northwest area.
Essential Functions:

Analyze and service high power units in the field
Onsite Commissioning of new, refurbished and repaired power supplies and support integration with customer controls
Works independently under the guidance of product engineering and/or technical support
Provide recommendations regarding which products or services best fit the customers' needs
Identify areas for product improvement
Provide training on product maintenance
Perform a variety of tasks with a certain degree of creativity and latitude
Preform minor engineering changes
Update documentation
When Field Service Technicians do not have field assignments, they will assigned to technical phone support and required reporting and documentation.

Required Education and Experience:
1. 2-year Electrical/Electronic technical degree or the equivalent. A licensed electrician is desired but not required.
2. 3-5 years of experience in the power electronic conversion field or in related area.
3. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures required to service power conversion equipment
4. Basic knowledge of control circuits associated with the product line within a particular field needed
5. Must be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
6. Must have a good working knowledge of single and 3-phase power systems and a good working knowledge power conversion topology
7. Board level electronic component understanding helpful
8. Experience required in the use of basic mechanical hand tools and electrical test equipment used for maintenance and measurement of line frequency power circuits (i.e. DVM, current measurement of AC and DC circuits, oscilloscope, power, and energy measurement equipment) is required
9. Experience with medium voltage powers system is helpful
10. The ability to perform most functions without aid is necessary
11. Knowledge of 3 phase battery and/or PV inverters.
12. Knowledge of high powered SCRs and/or metal finishing process would be beneficial but not necessary.

Short Description The purpose of the Field Service Mechanic A position is to utilize the mechanical expertise of the candidate to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe and timely manner. An individual in this position will work to keep all equipment in peak running condition through an effective preventative maintenance program and a detailed repair schedule. This incumbent is a master technician and assumes a leadership role of product knowledge within the branch and acts as a professional representative of Herc Rentals at all times. He/she performs at a high standard of quality level within the branch. He/she has mastered the operating standards of the facility, the region and corporation. Responsibilities * Follow a consistent and regular schedule to perform various types of maintenance on heavy equipment, construction equipment and various pieces of machinery at various job sites * Repair assorted heavy equipment as required to ensure proper operating condition at the job site * Disassembles engines and reassembles after a thorough examination * Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and propane systems * Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services * Recondition and replace assorted parts of the heavy equipment * Must be able to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment * Diagnoses problem areas for any significant wear or tear on the equipment * Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner * Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs * Follow all company's filed procedures and protocols * Build positive relationships with customers * Perform additional duties as assigned Requirements Professional Experience Educational Background High School Diploma/GED Conditions of Employment Skills * Ability to lift 50+ pounds * Ability to operate large, heavy machinery * Ability to read and comprehend the standards of operating procedures, owner's manuals and product/warning labels * Customer service skills * Must be able to operate a two-way radio, if necessary * Understands the importance of time management * Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform basic computer operations If you are looking for an exciting and rewarding career with a growth-oriented company, Herc Rentals is the right place for you!
