This position is responsible for equipment installation and technical support of MULTIVAC product lines, and maintaining good customer relations. Position will investigate and resolve customer reports of technical issues with equipment, and eliminate future operational or service difficulties for customers. Due to our customers needs, priorities will change based on customer situations so individuals must be able to adapt to ever changing work schedule and priorities.

Time Utilization: This position will travel up to 90% of the time.

Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate internal and external customers schedules. Must be willing to work outside normal business hours including some weekends as required. Provide after-hours support as needed. Must be able to travel with little notice as customer demands require.


  • Communicate with scheduler on a daily basis, give updates on current job status, and receive additional job assignments. Maintain quality and quantity of work on equipment.

    Listen attentively and ask questions as appropriate. Complete work assignments with minimum supervision. Retrieve and respond to messages daily on all communication tools.

  • Consistently make travel arrangements within company policy guidelines and in the most cost effective and time efficient manner possible. Keep service team members and customers informed of arrival times. Travel arrangements will include: hotel, car rental, and flights.

  • Install and/or repair new or modified equipment according to specifications at customer facilities in a timely manner to ensure full functionality. Upon completion of installation, all technical documentation will be provided to the regional scheduler.

  • Provide onsite technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment in a reasonable amount of time. Provide a communication link between the customer and MULTIVAC to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.

  • Conduct training for customers on the safe operations of equipment, maintenance, and parts ordering. Provide contact information for service team for future service needs and parts needs. Ensure customers are comfortable with operational and safety procedures of their equipment.

  • Complete service documentation on what was repaired during the service call and submit related expenses for the trip and time spent on the call. Reports are complete, accurate, and submitted within 24 hours of job completion.

    Weekly expense reports and time sheets are also completed in an accurate and timely manner. All expenses incurred are handled in a cost effective manner.

Education/Experience: Associate's Degree or equivalent technical school diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar discipline; or two years field service, packaging, maintenance or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and machine shop skills required. Mechanical aptitude needed.

Must have the ability to respond and adjust to changing or new situations. Work well in high stress environments and maintain professionalism in dealing with customers and coworkers. Needs to be a self-starter and have the ability to work in unsupervised settings.

Must be able to troubleshoot basic mechanical, electronic and operational aspects of machines. Responsible for machine service and concentrates on problem solving and preventative maintenance. Excellent customer service skills.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, as well as having working knowledge of database applications, ERP systems, and contact management systems.

Diagnoses electronic, mechanical, software and system failures, using established procedures provided by our highly rated service training department. This job may include any aspect of field support, including hardware, software, PC's, and wireless networking. Provides technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of system equipment. Determines most cost effective repair/resolution to minimize customer downtime. NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) POSITION - requires electrical and mechanical experience DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibility will be to install, troubleshoot and repair a variety of industrial products that include, but are not limited to; printing and packaging equipment, X-ray machines, cash recycling products, mailing and sorting machines, credit card embossing and processing and any other applicable third-party accessories attached as part of the system. * Schedule and perform regular predictive/preventive maintenance inspections on equipment. * Provide support by managing parts inventory, customer service calls and preventative maintenance schedules. * Foster positive customer relations and a high degree of customer satisfaction by communicating effectively with customers. * Act as a liaison between the customer and other departments/functions of the company. May need to provide an "on call" level of service up to seven (7) day/week twenty-four (24) hour/day for emergency customer assistance; respond to emergency and non-scheduled calls for service within established response time goals. REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED High School graduate with 2 year degree or diploma in electronics/advanced mechanics/software training with 1+ years related industry/equipment experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires strong electronics and mechanical background, understanding of computer program functionality and software troubleshooting skills. Associate degree a plus. ADDITIONAL SKILLS * Ability to use standard and specialized hand, power and diagnostic tools and measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM, gauges, etc. * Thorough understanding of mechanical concepts * Good analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills; ability to read and interpret technical drawing and documentation * Strong interpersonal/customer relations skills; the ability to influence positive outcomes; the ability to effectively resolve conflict internally and externally. * Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships by understanding their operations and instilling confidence with effective proactive communication. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Requires working extended hours as needed to fix equipment * Requires lifting to waist up to 70 pounds * Requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; reaching with arms and hands * Work is performed in a controlled office, retail, and manufacturing environment; noise within acceptable safety levels; work sometimes performed in small, cramped areas or at heights up to 20 feet; paper dust prevalent; cleaners and solvents used to clean machines; machines contain moving parts.
