The Field Service Technician provides customers with technical assistance, consulting services, quotes jobs, provides training, and acts as liaison between customers and the Company sales, engineering and manufacturing department. The position also assists management in sales, field service and warranty issues. The role plans and coordinates activities concerned with investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems as well. The Field Service Technician represents the Company in the support of product startup, warranty service and billable repair. This position reports to the Field Services Manager.

This position will mainly serve Henry Pratt Company's Southeast and Northeast Regions, which generally comprise the Eastern U.S. This role requires significant travel (75%+) to customers site locations within the coverage area as well as when necessary to travel to potentially other areas in the U.S. Given the expected coverage areas, Mueller desires candidates to live in the Southeast Region near an airport. Desired living areas include Chattanooga, Nashville, or Atlanta.

Duties may include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Analyzes, reviews and inspection of findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective actions

  • Troubleshooting with customers

  • Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.

  • Provide start-up or other training to customer.

  • Billable hours / Technical, Supervise and support customer maintenance crews in the repairs of Henry Pratt products.

  • Be capable of performing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic service on Company products and performing adjustments and making evaluations relating to function on vendor manufactured actuators, accessories, and control systems.

Required Skills:

  • Technical degree from two or four-year college

  • Must have a strong technical background, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulics knowledge.

  • Knowledge of PLCs, actuators, and control systems

  • Ability to professionally communicate technical issues with customers with varying degrees of technical expertise

  • Ability to document all processes related to start-ups, troubleshooting, and repairs completed for future internal and/or external customer review

  • Proven ability to initiate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers. Ex. Working with Company Engineering team and Inside Sales team to ensure all customer contacts with Mueller are knowledgeable of customer activity.

  • Must have good technical aptitude & be able to read and interpret drawings.

  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and accuracy is a must have; ability to analyze information, good problem-solving skills.

  • Must be comfortable with various modes of travel, including air travel and vehicle travel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Close physical proximity to a commercial airport in Nashville, Chattanooga, or Atlanta.

  • Maintenance certifications demonstrating a desire to maintain knowledge of current and new best practices. Examples of certifications are:

  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT)

  • Certificated Maintenance & Reliability Professional

  • International Maintenance Institute (IMI)

  • NOCTI certification

Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday. Work hours will vary based on customer requirements. As noted above, significant travel is required.

About the role: Install and repair broadband communications system in compliance with company technical standards from consumer service to exterior tap locations What you'll be doing: Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below: * Perform new connects, reconnects, disconnects, upgrades, downgrades and change-of-service * Install and relocate outlets * Install or remove converters and cable modems * Install interior and exterior wiring * Connect peripheral equipment * Train customers on proper use of equipment * Monitor, repair and record system, drop, and in-house leakage * Assure proper signal levels and picture quality * Identify causes of picture and/or signal degradation * Troubleshoot from consumer device to tap * Troubleshoot, repair and replace components from tap to consumer device * Assure system security by terminating unused ports and tag drops and locking pedestals * Take voltage measurements * Understand/apply FCC and NESC technical standards * Identify and report all incidents of noncompliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA and WOW standards) * Provide superior customer service * Complete all tasks to WOW! quality standards * Maintain professional appearance and behavior at all times * Maintain excellent attendance * Responsible for motor vehicle per company policy including equipment & tool inventory, vehicle security and vehicle maintenance * Replaces defective/damaged tap plates and installs new taps * Troubleshoots/repairs problems between customer equipment and the RF of the optical node. * Tests, maintains, splices, repairs and replaces coax cable. * Installs rigid and semi-rigid coax cable (underground and aerial). * Troubleshoots/repairs problems with RF, AC, DC portion of forward and reverse plant for transmission levels, signal losses and other interference. * Performs routine balancing, aligning and adjustment of components and equipment used to amplify and process signals from output of the node. * Performs underground and aerial construction duties associated with CATV operations. * Tests coax cable using signal level meters, volt-OHM meters, spectrum analyzers and compares findings with documentation. * Performs network troubleshooting including ping test, trace routes and speed test. * Installs power supply and performs field engineering walkouts. * Other duties as assigned - which may include training other employees What you'll bring: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
