Job Summary

Successful candidate will be required to travel to customer job sites as scheduled to provide GSI Dealership support to troubleshoot and make necessary minor repairs if required on all GSI branded equipment and product offerings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interact daily with GSI Dealers, Dealer Technicians, Contractors, Customers, and internal resources / departments to provide equipment troubleshooting and repair assistance.

  • Troubleshoot equipment mechanical, electrical, installation opportunities and communicate effectively with Leadership, Sales Team, Technical Service, internal customer service, and engineering to resolve reported equipment form, fit, and functionality opportunities.

  • Proficient problem solving abilities in order to identify root cause analysis and implement countermeasures to resolve equipment functionality opportunities.

  • Support the Technical Service team call center, BASLC service center, Dealer Training, and Harvest extended hours as scheduled to provide our Dealers efficient & effective equipment troubleshooting solutions.

Safety Responsibilities

Employees are responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, policies and procedures. Associate responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Comply with all company and site specific safety rules, policies and procedures.

  • Report any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their supervisor.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and report any defective PPE.

  • Report all near-misses, incidents, injuries, illnesses, including mobile equipment or property damage.

  • Participation in the site Safety and Health Program.

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements

  • 3 + years of experience with reading wiring schematics, required

  • Proficient Microsoft Office - Intermediate experience, required

  • OSHA 30 Hour course certification, required

  • Clean driving record and ability to obtain company vehicle usage authorization, required

Preferred

  • 2 year technical degree, preferred
  • 3 + years of previous mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience, preferred

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports.

Work Environment

The work environment will vary dependent on season, regional location, and equipment support needs.

  • Able to work in a wide range of climate conditions.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Ability to climb 200' plus if equipment installations require.

Travel

The position will require 75% travel

Job Responsibilities * Lead the technical design and development of new and improved grain handling, conditioning, structures, fertilizer and storage ensuring that all critical customer and compliance requirements are met. * Lead departments, totaling 60 - 70 engineers and technicians that design, develop, and launch new and improved grain handling and storage, systems, and features into production. * Manage and grow department personnel capabilities, including goal setting and performance reviews. * Oversee prototype builds and validation testing to meet project requirements. * Ensure projects deliver expected levels of Quality, Safety, Performance, Reliability, and Cost using appropriate analysis and testing tools by predictable Validation & Verification programs * Assist in determining design approach and parameters to provide innovative product solutions. * Ensure the achievement of Product Program objectives through stage gate product development process (AMPIP) delivering defined program objectives. * Lead the engineering responsibilities for product updates, product structure maintenance, internal and customer product technical support. * Champion the Engineering Change Process and New Product Design Reviews, ensuring cross functional participation and input. Provide status updates and reports to functional leaders as required. * Maintain documentation associated with engineering change orders, bills of material, detailed CAD models and associated component drawings * Plan, establish, track, analyze, and proactively manage department and project budgets, project schedules and product cost * Researches new technology or products to recommend and/or introduce modifications and/or advances to current systems, products and methods. * Drive continual improvement in product development and engineering processes, leveraging both internal and external resources. * Work with sales, marketing and product management to develop and execute product strategy roadmap. Essential skills Education * Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or related field. Experience * Minimum 10 years of experience in the design, prototype build, and test of agricultural equipment. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and projects using a formal stage gate product development process Qualifications * Excellent interpersonal and communications skills within a cross functional team, as well as good problem-solving and analytical techniques * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and bring them to completion * General business analysis expertise to correctly assess the value added to the company in the prioritization of the multiple conflicting priorities to be optimized (ie cost vs performance, quality vs time to market, profitability vs initial investments, cost reduction vs. business stability, etc) * Ability to develop and manage budgets and manage business decisions within budget parameter * Experience with industry-leading engineering methodologies, including but not limited to validation testing, data collection systems, Finite Element Analysis * Understanding electrical controls, PLC's, industrial automation * Understanding of the agricultural equipment industry and modern farming practices * Well-developed leadership skills including the ability to persuade and influence others * Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey strategies, processes/approaches to a variety of internal audiences * Ability to address and resolve issues in an objective, fact-based, professional fashion * Ability to inspire confidence in project sponsors, owners and participants Work Environment * Requires sustained mental effort related to a production environment, and organizational and technical issues * Work is performed within an office setting and within a warehouse/industrial setting * Noise levels vary however there is no continuous exposure to hazardous noise levels. * Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
