KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America, Inc. (KSEA) is headquartered in El Segundo, California, and is responsible for all U.S. distribution and sales of endoscopes, instruments, imaging systems, electromechanical devices, and OR1 operating room integration technologies.
ROLE OVERVIEW
KARL STORZ is currently seeking a Field Service Specialist to join the Protection1 Field Service team covering Birmingham, AL area.
Reporting to the Manager of Field Service Protection1, this role is primarily responsible for the management of KARL STORZ devices within a territory including, influencing competitor trades.
Client sites for this role include hospitals and surgery centers which perform endoscopic surgeries where preventative maintenance, purchasing new instruments, manpower, and over-use of disposable instruments are issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The job responsibilities of the Field Service Specialist I are determined in the negotiations for service with the client(s). Key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
Driven by key performance indicators, Field Service Specialist I will complete target objectives related to preventative maintenance, instrument repair operations and influence competitor trades.
Drive a KARL STORZ vehicle within a defined territory to; work with the account's Sterile Processing and Operating Room departments to inspect, repair (either performing or facilitating), troubleshoot and replace KARL STORZ instruments/products as needed.
Maintain the client's KARL STORZ instrument sets so that they are always in excellent working condition and ready for use thus reducing the use of disposable instruments.
Identify process improvement opportunities and suggest workflows to keep repairs and replacement expenses within the contract's predetermined budget for the account.
Lead and create in-service seminars for clients related to inspection, maintenance and sterilization of KARL STORZ instrumentation.
Follow procedures for the inspection of KARL STORZ instruments and document their work.
Transport, inspect, clean/sterilize post-use, troubleshoot, set-up and support for KARL STORZ instruments, video towers or OR1 systems.
Effective time management to meet or exceed client's expectations.
Duties will vary depending on the contracted agreement with the account.
REQUIREMENTS
Our successful candidate will have excellent written and spoken English language business communication skills. They will also have demonstrated success working in a collaborative, service-oriented team environment.
Additional requirements include, but are not limited to:
A minimum education level of an Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
0 - 2+ years of experience in surgical technology; sterile processing; medical device sales, support, operations or technical support.
Demonstrated excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task.
Possess excellent communication skills and strong business acumen to effectively act as a liaison between KARL STORZ sales & management teams and the client's Sterile Processing Department & Operating Room staff including surgeons.
Possess high standards for reporting work activity, including visual reports.
Ability to travel overnight up to 10% of the year.
Successful completion of a background check and drug test for safety sensitive positions.
This position requires daily driving to geographically dispersed accounts.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license in the state where the vehicle will be operated or in the state of residence.
Preferred, but not required:
Bachelor's degree or higher.
2+ years clinical experience as a Surgical Technician or Nurse with Operating Room experience.
