What do you get to do in this position?

This position is accountable for installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing customer equipment. Instructs customers and sales personnel on the operation and maintenance of equipment. Installs, services and repairs customer equipment. Performs warranty work and start-up service. Performs testing, calibration, checking, correcting, adjusting and part component replacement services on customer products. Constructs and tests circuits and equipment utilizing various tools and machines such as computers, workstations, circuit diagrams and test instruments/equipment. Instructs customers and sales personnel on the operation and customer maintenance of equipment. Provides technical support in product service, product training and applications. Analyzes complex problems in equipment and machinery and interprets maintenance manuals, using knowledge of systems and electronics to isolate and correct the fault. Consults with product support and engineering personnel to determine solutions to complex problems in system operation. Reports customer suggestions on product improvement and existing product designs to the appropriate technical specialist. Assists in the developing design modifications. Implements modifications and provides installation support for the modifications. Develops and implements training courseware and provides training to customers and other service representatives. Develops and maintains ongoing customer relationships with regards to all aspects of equipment repair and maintenance. Maintains service equipment, tools and documentation.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service

  • Advise customers on best practice, new services and upgrade opportunities

  • Perform Startup/Commissioning on equipment across the Schneider Electric product portfolio.

  • Perform preventive, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment

  • Track Installed Base (serviceable assets)

  • Submit Opportunity Detected during his/her interventions

  • Support serviceable Schneider equipment including but not limited to: electrical switchgear, HVAC/CRAC systems, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, BMS systems, PLCs, HMIs, Drives, security, access control, CCTV and fire alarm and suppression systems

  • Leads or contributes to Field Services small projects coordination and execution on customer site (end of life, modernization, upgrade, etc).

  • Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other service documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.

  • Perform basic audits of customer's electrical systems and equipment.

  • Document all required information for each site (technical report)

  • Get signature from customer for acceptance after the execution of the on-site work

  • Provide daily and accurate time and expense for each customer intervention

  • Properly document, label, and return all defective parts utilized in the repair of equipment to the designated disposal/repair location.

  • Develop innovative solutions to more complex technical problems that arise during start-up.

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new products or equipment upgrades that will meet customer needs.

  • Assist Schneider Electric Service Partners in site visits, evaluating technical and professional performance.

  • Works with Sales and looks for other opportunities outside current scope of work

  • Is in permanent relation with his planner/coordinator for smooth execution of his intervention

  • Will escalate to FS technical expert in the countries as needed when unable to solve a technical issue

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Can remotely investigate the origin of the breakdown and submit fixes (in a service bureau for example)

  • High level of technical knowledge of electronic/electrical component theory. Knowledge of HVAC systems and applicable application software knowledge is preferred.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.

  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds

  • Familiarization in preparing MOPs is a plus and candidate must adhere to the strict guidelines of approved Methods of Procedures (MOPs).

  • Verifiable hands-on technical work experience required

  • Certification needed according to Business and Country where he is operating.

  • Relevant experience with critical systems infrastructure equipment (i.e. electrical switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, fire detection/suppression or building monitoring systems).

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 2-year degree or equivalent in experience.

  • 2-4 years of relevant mechanical, electrical and/or power distribution service experience

  • Testing, maintenance and/or upgrade experience in some or all of the following areas is a requirement:

o Low or Medium Voltage Switchgear

o Transformers

o Relay Protection Systems

o Control Systems

This is a technical position that requires the ability to safely perform hands on work, process optimization, and maintain high customer satisfaction. Primary Responsibilities: * Field Service Execution: Execute commissioning service and contracted services to the installed base as assigned. Field service work is to be completed within project scope, budget, and schedule as specified in the Site Work Plan. Field Service Reports and other necessary documentation are considered part of this responsibility and need to be submitted timely. * Technical Phone Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers via phone and email as part of the "on-call" rotation as assigned. Provide service reports * Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve Pall Water services, products, delivery times and customer satisfaction. * Service Growth: Promote the services that Pall Water offers to our customers, thereby improving system up-time and long term customer satisfaction. Assist in the development of service products to expand the service product portfolio. * Safety: Understands and Complies with company Safety policies and procedures as it relates to field service. * Field Service Engineer is responsible for independently performing the job functions listed above for all assigned projects. Oversees the proper installation, testing, commissioning, and service of Pall Water Systems and Products by Customers' Engineers and/or Technicians and/or Contract Engineers/Technicians. Pall Water systems include: the specific Water Product integrated into a complete process system utilizing tanks, pumps, compressors, variable frequency drives, automated valves, process and analytical instrumentation interfaced to a PLC based control system with a graphical user interface front end. * Responsible for independently identifying, implementing, documenting system modifications, and conveying back to project team. Responsible to also reflect actual installation results versus original design, by marking up engineering drawings and returning to the project team. This also requires in-depth knowledge of customers, vendors, suppliers and contractors, part, equipment, process controls and materials. * Responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with customers. While performing service, the field service engineer must make sound technical decisions to meet customer requirements while maintaining Pall's commercial interests. Independently resolves adverse situation when appropriate, however recognizes and defers to the project manager, service team lead, or service manager when needed. * Responsible for independently testing and troubleshooting all systems hardware. Responsible for testing and troubleshooting PLC software and HMI software based on established designs and Customer's requirements. Provides technical direction to Customers and/or Contractors regarding the Pall System. * Responsible for training customers and/or contracted site personnel in operating of the Pall Water System, which can sometimes include preparation of training materials. * Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of time tracking, service reports, expense reports and other business related documents. * Assignments will involve travel to specified sites (both domestic and international) to perform above activities. On occasion, travel may take place on weekends as required to meet the customer's need.
