A Field Service Representative serves as a company technical and administrative representative, deals with customer service assignments including on-site preventative maintenance and inspection service work, major equipment exchanges, responds to call-out services, and performs commissioning activities on Solar gas turbine packages in the service area of the Odessa District.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Be able to provide preventative maintenance, commissioning, trouble call, diagnostics, and repair services while working independent or in a diverse team environment.

  • Ensure accurate communications and reporting between immediate Solar management and customer representatives.

  • Be able to plan and execute major interventions on schedule and within budget.

  • Be able to work individually or with assigned Field Service Representatives on preventative/corrective maintenance.

  • Demonstrate the capability to utilize a multidiscipline approach and use sound technical judgment towards maintenance, repair, commissioning and troubleshooting of complex technical problems.

  • Understand and comply with Solar EHS and customer SAFETY policies and procedures.

  • Ensure all maintenance and commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with Solar Engineering specifications, recommendations and best practices.

  • Basic computer skills to include but not limited to the following, word processing programs, spreadsheets, email platforms and other communication tools.

  • Be capable of reading and using applicable drawings, ladder logic, and technical manuals.

  • Have a basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Provide a driving record from the applicable licensing agency.

  • Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen and a physical fitness evaluation.

The chosen candidate will live in the Midland-Odessa, TX area, or Oklahoma City area, or Southeast New Mexico area (Hobbs, Carlsbad, Jal).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent

  • 1+ yrs working on turbomachinery or similar machinery (machinery such as combustion engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic devices and/or electrical instrumentation)

  • Work experience using engineering principles, gas turbine theory and operational practices, control system logic, driven equipment, and processes

  • Working knowledge and mechanical skill set including the use of hand tools

  • Willing to travel 75 to 100% of the time

  • Willing to live/relocate to one of the locations above.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills to interact face-to-face with colleagues and/or internal and external customers.

  • Must possess ability to write reports that achieve maximum impact in a timely manner

  • Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen and a physical fitness evaluation.

  • Clean Driving Record (this includes no moving violations within the last 12 months, no "2 point" violations within the last 3 years, and no DUI's within the last 7 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sound understanding of Gas Turbine theory process, gas compressor theory, large generators and operational practice including control system logic and driven equipment processes in general, both upstream and downstream

  • The ability to program and perform troubleshooting on RSLogix and/or Allen Bradley control systems

  • Aviation airframe and power plant experience

  • Technical certification (e.g. Degree, HNC/HND, ONC, C&G, Aviation Engineer's license, Marine Engineer's Certificate, UTI, MMI)

  • 3+ years' experience in a related industry

  • Military background

  • 3+ years electrical experience

  • Turbomachinery experience

  • Problem solving, business acumen, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for success in this job

  • Must have demonstrated excellent performance in current and prior positions

  • Must possess a high energy level, sense of urgency, the ability to work independently or in a team environment
